2023 Sante Fe hybrid

After looking at other hybrids, the Sante Fe checked most of the boxes for us. I was looking for a hybrid and while other car makers offered them they were not available and a long waiting period from ordering to delivery was going to be needed. As it turned, the Sante Fe hybrid was being delivered in the next couple of days and after test driving it, I bought it immediately and have been completely satisfied with it ever since.

Design flaws

The door handle locks are a joke. There is nothing intuitive about how they work. The “lock button” is so obscure you have to hunt with your fingers to find it (you cannot see it). If you grip the door handle with your hand and touch the lock button with you thumb, the door will not lock. And to use the manual key, not even the dealership knew how to unlock the door. The picture in the manual was all but useless. Took me two days to finally figure it out. The display on the info screen (billboard) defaults to basically a blank screen when you start the engine. It should at least default to the last screen showing when the engine is turned off; in my case, the radio. Should not have to punch the “Radio” button every time you start the engine. I wish the battery was used longer at slower speeds before switching over to the engine, but I can live with that. The cup holders on the door panels aren’t of much use. All and all, I am pleased with the performance of the vehicle. I wish the steering assist would let you have more time without hands on the wheel.

This is my first Hyundai and despite my husband's initial skepticism, we both love it. There is no road noise and the amount of features included is amazing. We love that the back seats are heated.

Overall I like the design of 2023 SantaFe. The only thing am worried is my monthly loan payment with Hyundai Motors Finance. Its huge and am trying to find an alternative.

Reliable with Excellent Gas Mileage

I have had the vehicle for a little over 2 years, and it has been serviced once for a warranty issue which was quickly taken care of by the Corona service dept. It has been dependable and has a good amount of tech features. Not too overwhelming, but enough to keep up with the times. It is comfortable and has enough space to accommodate a couple of suitcases and other smaller stuff.

Good suv

Back up camera failed and needed to be replaced. Cruise control is fair but sluggish to come back up to speed so often need to override with gas pedal. Navigation is poor. The car is comfortable and rides nice.

Great car.

Love the gas mileage. Looks great. Runs great. Could do better at short stops. Sometimes it take a few seconds to get going after a brief stop (slow down). Need to improve the headunit software/hardware. It is way too slow.

Overall pleased with the Santa Fe Hybrid

Replaced a 2015 Chevy Traverse. Most everything about the car is positive, Hybrid drive is smoother that pure gas powered and worth the extra cost for that alone. However, it gets great economy, it will pay for itself using nearly any metric you give it. Got to test it in the recent snow storms and the Hybrid drive in Snow mode and 4 wheel lock didn't slip a wheel. For the most part, the advanced electronics are great. Unfortunately, the venicle was recently totaled when it was hit from the side. Only the airbags that were needed went off, no one was hurt, scratch, or even had any whiplash. So I think it is a very safe car also. We replaced it with a new Santa Fe Hybrid. We have two negatives: the Hyundai smart phone app is pretty close to poor. Customer service for the app is hugely back up and take weeks to reply, and then can't seem to fix it. The app is NOT a selling point. Second, and Hyundai can't seem to understand this item either is the built-in garage door opener only works when the ignition is turned on. I don't see how in the heck that got past the corporate lawyers, having the car running in a closed garage to get the door open, and leaving the car running when closing the door. We ust didn't bother programming it on the new car and use an old-fashioned garage door button clipped on the visor.
