From ‘02 Monte Carlo to ‘05 Volvo S80
So my transmission went on my monte and ended up getting this Volvo S80 somewhat against my will (my ma knew a guy who knew a guy selling it).So after it was in my possession did some research it’s mostly a solid car and engine. There are weak points as to any car but honestly it didn’t feel too bad even though everything appeared to be either stock or all genuine Volvo maybe replaced once but I doubt it. Started off with just an oil change in April 2020, Did tune up spark plugs, ignition coils, air filter and cabin air filter, fuel filter, but BIG thing is the Pcv system not valve system simple way to test it start the car remove the oil fill cap from the middle of the engine the Pcv should create a vacuum in the engine so you can put a piece of paper or my preferred way is using a rubber glove and fitting it around the oil fill hole if it fills up the pcv needs to be replaced and requires you to take off the intake manifold throttle and if you replace the whole metal hose then it requires you to drain your coolant long story short it’s a big job that needs to be done to avoid oil leaks. I did that, rear and front brakes rotors and suspension rear is just struts and strut mounts but front is control arms strut assembly tie rod feels pretty firm now oh and also did engine mounts I like the car and the 5 cylinder low pressure turbo still gives me enough power to enjoy it the interior is very comfortable as well
