07 sequoia
Overall I have been happy with my 2007 Sequoia, there are some things about it though that are extremely irritating.
First the good- It has been mechanically dependable. It has enough power. It has plenty of room for everyone.
Then the not so good- Right after the 60K mile point my VSC off, TSC, and Check Engine light came on and I've brought it in to Toyota 4 times, got different things looked at and replaced but the warning lights are still on? It runs ok but the lights make me a little nervous and why can't Toyota figure out what it is? 1 more thing- The cheap plastic parts on the interior of the vehicle such as the back cubby door won't stay on - I think we paid too much for this vehicle
Then the bad- I back latch on the door lift is SOOOOO stupid. It has spent almost as much time nonfunctional as it has functional. When it stops working you can't open the back lift gate. It's extremely inconvenient and it also means you can't get to your spare tire. The first time it broke was like 100 miles after the factory warranty, then its stopped working once or twice a year every year since. Toyota worked on it almost every time then we got tires of giving them $300+ every time it broke and the last time we fixed it ourselves. It is really, really annoying to get to the malfunctioning part, it's pretty much an all day job. They say that dust gets into the mechanism that releases the latch so it cannot function properly, I feel like it's a design flaw that should be corrected. 4 wheel drive vehicles should not be so sensitive to dirt! I don't even drive mine off road and it keeps breaking. Toyota should fix it but they still use this design in several of their models. I believe the fact that you cannot access your spare tire when it is non-functional makes it a safety issue. Toyota should redesign this system and recall all models affected.
