Handling is amazing. Top down head turner. Reliable. Love it

I was looking to get a used Miata when I stumbled upon this car for sale within 100 miles of me. Do not hesitate to jump on it . would’ve sold if I would’ve waited another 12 hours. Very scarce. A better driving experience than any Miata

FUN, FUN, FUN, but is it a good car?

The car is low to the ground; lower than my corvette. Once you get in, there is so much room inside that its like you just climbed into a VERY comfortable living room. I am 6 feet tall and a hefty 285 pounds. I have a big belly, but that didn't present a problem (once I was in the seat). My belly doesn't hit the steering wheel at all. It doesn't even come close. I sat in an MG Migit once in my younger years and the steering wheel was right up to my belly and practically rubbing the top of my legs. Not in (this car). Plenty of headroom with the top in place. Plenty of shoulder room. It's just a very comfortable car. The car has adequate power, and mine has a manual 5-speed. I can go through all four gears and be doing 40mph. When in 5th gear, the motor sounds like it running in forth gear on the interstate going 60mph. It has the capability to go much faster. I have gone 85 in this car and the motor sounds like it is really cooking at about 3000 rpm, but according to the tachometer it has a long way to go before red-line. The car handles like a dream, especially around turns. I have no complaints about it, except for it's flexing around corners at above normal speeds. You can actually feel the car flex (twist) when rounding turns at higher speeds. I don't personally care for that. Now I know why I have read about people suring up the frame. But don't get me wrong. Under normal driving, you probably wouldn't notice it. This car is not meant for racing as a stock vehicle. It sounds terrific, if you are into a Porsche sounding motor. I'm an old man who enjoys the silence of Cadillacs, but I ride a loud Harley too. I have to be in the right mood to want to drive this car. For somebody younger than me, this car (the MR2) is just a constant thrill to drive as a daily driver. For me, the thrill is a top-down experience. You just cannot ask for anything more thrilling. These cars are very rare now and are worth seeking out for sure. My MR2 accelerates and brakes well. It handles way over the top (more than you could expect). It really doesn't like bumps, but just avoid as many as you can. The MR2 is spectacular. Everyone should at least drive one once. It is an experience you will never forget.

Fun weekend car

I love my Toyota MR2 Spyder mainly because it is very fun to drive as it delivers true mid-engine sports car handling and performance. Also the under-built stock MR2 seems built for the aftermarket mod enthusiast such as myself. You can find almost any kind of performance or body mod online and a thriving MR2 international community with some amazingly built up MR2’s with 500+ hp and sick wide-body aero for inspiration. With a simple turbokit installed my MR2 delivers surprising power to weight ratio that is ideal for autocross type driving (low speeds with rapid sharp turns) With my hard top and rear spoiler my MR2 looks almost exotic, especially since Toyota discontinued production in 2005 so these cars are becoming increasingly rare and collectible. Not to mention the insanely inexpensive price to purchase one (if you can find one, I had to drive 200 miles). I got mine for $7,000 and then spent $3,000 on a hard top and turbo-kit. I know there are a lot of MR2 haters out there, but I think none of them own one. I don’t know anyone with a $10k or even $30k car that I would trade for my slightly modified MR2 Spyder. Everyone I have ever let drive my MR2 can’t stop smiling until they park and get out.

2001 Toyota spyder

Have the car since 2001. The interior seats need cosmetics. When purchased the car was white. A year later had it repainted to “Inferno red” at Macao. It’s a 5 speed and responds-quick. When Ice and snow on the road, have to be careful in 2nd-the car will slip and slide. Once in 3rd or 4th, the car has no traction problem. I’m 6’ tall and the seat is comfortable on short or long drives. Want to keep it as long as possible.

2001 Toyota Spyder convertible

My 5 speed, manual Toyota is really fuel efficient. It is easy to drive. It is a good looking vehicle. I have taken long trips, 700+ miles and have had no problems with the car’s performance. I feel it’s a dependable vehicle and am happy I own it.
