Nice EV

What would make this basic EV better is a back windshield wiper and front camera. Front camera would certainly help me stop crushing the front under bumper on those concrete parking blocks. We are having problems with rodents and small animals being attached to nesting under the carriage of the car. There is a wealth of open spaces under there for small animals to hole up. We had a skunk curl up under the front bumper and easily moved around to deeper locations while we attempted to scare it out. We had one expensive repair already for chewed wires in a wheel well area. We purchased "The Grid" electric fence to help protect our EV. Otherwise, range is good and comfort level is above average with the interior remaining dry in our rainy/snowy winter area.

Loved my Ioniq, until it shut down on the highway!

So many problems! Loved my car, then it developed an ICCU and fuse issue. Caused it to shut down, while driving, on the highway. DANGEROUS! Car has now been in the dealer for about two months, with no part available. No date given for a repair. Working with Hyundai corporate, which is frustrating to say the least and trying to get my money back and buy a more reliable vehicle.

Does not fit my lifestyle and causes undo stress

I do not feel safe in this car. I wanted to return it 2 weeks after I got it. Little (but important) things: no rear window wiper! Rain, snow/road ice impedes my sight. Even the carwash can't clean the top of the rear window and I have to do it myself. I once ran out of power when I arrived at a station that had no chargers (they were being replaced) and had to try to make it to the next closest. I didn't....and got stuck half-way on a busy road. That was at 2 am (I work the late shift at a hospital), and between roadside assistance and Electrify America, I didn't get home until 12:15 in the afternoon. NOTE: If you run your battery out, you CANNOT charge at Electrify America chargers unless you have at least a trickle of power (i.e. another roadside assistance call for a "jump" so I could connect to the charger). The first two weeks I had this car, I had to charge it 16 (SIXTEEN!!) times. Cold weather in this vehicle is not conducive to sufficient battery life. I love Hyundais.....this is my 5th! But boy, do I HATE this car!!

I really wanted to like this car. It's my second electric car (I leased a Kia Niro EV prior to this), and the fact that it's electric is really the only thing I like about it. We live on a winding, narrow street in a big city, and I find the car a beast to handle. It's unresponsive, has zero turning radius, annoying to park because of this, and its safety features frequently make me less safe. If I could break the lease tomorrow, I would.

Was great until our ICCU failure two weeks ago

Car rides well, gets good efficiency (3.8 kWh/mi over 14866 mi), has tons of space. Unfortunately I know the mileage very accurately because it's the mileage our ICCU failure and the car has been at the dealer waiting for the replacement part for 9 days now. Hopefully won't be too much longer.

I am very happy to be driving a 20254 Ioniq 5 Limited RWD

My Ioniq 5 Limited has exceeded my expectations. I feel comfortable driving and my passengers have been very impressed with the vehicle. I especially like the safety features, the quiet ride and the digital rear-view mirror. I definitely recommend the Limited trim. I selected the Rear Wheel Drive and it is more than peppy for me and I like the longer range.

Great design, cheap execution

Everything is rattling, even after they fixed the recall on the trunk switch they’re still squeaking at low speeds over bumps Just going through regular car wash there are paint chips missing in certain areas. I’ve never been able to use my phone as a key. Even when expecting the car to condition, the battery, it rarely goes into the correct mode. I’ve never been able to charge quickly when needed.

Best Car I’ve Ever Owned

I absolutely love my Ioniq 5. It is incredible driving through snow while in Snow Mode. Very quick pick up in speed on the highway. As in all EVs, the battery drains when it’s very cold out, but that’s probably the only downside in my eyes. Getting a home charger installed negates this! I love the interior. Simple and elegant. 9/10 overall, and that’s only because I couldn’t afford the N!

2024 IONIQ 5 Review

After a year of driving the IONIQ 5, I’ve realized it is not the car for me - or likely anyone who has a regular commute and cannot charge at home. It delivers a comfortable ride with a fun driving experience and nice displays and interior, but the logistics of charging, the wildly variable range estimates, and single point of failure electronics are enough of a frustration for me that this is not a car I want to keep.

Constant failures due to 12V and ICCU issues. Extremely unreliable.

I had high hopes for the 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5, but unfortunately, my experience has been nothing short of a nightmare. The vehicle constantly fails due to recurring 12V battery failures and persistent ICCU (Integrated Computer Control Unit) issues. These problems have made the car unreliable and frustrating to own. The 12V battery keeps dying unexpectedly, leaving me stranded and forcing me to jump-start the car repeatedly. It's incredibly inconvenient and raises serious concerns about the vehicle's electrical system and overall durability. On top of that, the ICCU issues cause various electronic glitches, including malfunctioning displays, loss of connectivity, and sometimes, the car simply refusing to start. Despite multiple visits to the dealership and repeated attempts at repairs, these problems persist, leaving me deeply disappointed. The car's supposed advanced technology feels more like a liability than an asset. For a vehicle in this price range, I expect better quality and reliability. Overall, I cannot recommend the 2024 Ioniq 5 to anyone looking for a dependable electric vehicle. The ongoing electrical issues have turned what should be an exciting EV experience into a constant headache.

Great summer car not so good Winter car

I love driving my car in the summer. In the winter, the ranges reduced by half ice builds up on the sensors and wiper mounts. There’s no rear visibility because of no rear wiper and camera always dirty.

Great little car in most respects, but...

After a year and a little over 20k miles, we've been very happy with our 2024 Ioniq 5. It's reliable, zippy, and has a beautiful, comfortable, and functional interior. On the downside, the software is a bit clunky and never seems to receive useful updates (like displaying the battery temperature, or providing a way to precondition manually, along with dozens of other minor annoyances). The cameras and driver assist functions are terrific. We even recommended it to a friend who bought his own 2025 Ioniq 5. Unfortunately his ICCU failed after a few thousand miles, and it has been in the shop for a month now. The ICCU failures are a well-known problem for these cars and have been since the 2022 model, but for some reason Hyundai has completely botched the response by (1) providing almost no official information, (2) not manufacturing and distributing enough spares to be able to rapidly replace ICCUs when they do fail, leading to multi-month wait times for parts, and (3) not actually fixing the design despite four model years and at least two recalls. The ICCU failures are just a huge, huge problems that can leave a driver stranded, and they don't seem to be taking it seriously at all. I don't know whether they appreciate how damaging this is to the brand. I know several people who considered and Ioniq 5 but heard about the ICCU issues and decided to go with a different brand. Hyundai could be dominating the market if they handled this better, because in almost every other respect it's a terrific little car.
