Fun, sporty and economical rolling into one great to drive car

The Elantra N borders on being a great car with only a few missing appointments holding it back. Plenty of power for practical sports car driving, great handling capabilities and excellent brakes. The N has plenty of interior room and great visual controls and sport seats. Only missing a sun roof, cooled and power seats and seat memory and it would equal anything my previously owned BMW M2, Audi TT or Porsche Boxster delivered, for nearly half the money - nearly incredible!

Drivetrain failure at 187 miles. Lemon buyback nightmare.

Complete drivetrain failure on the live freeway under 200 miles. The vehicle is a total lemon. Hyundai has left me waiting for 4 weeks without a resolution and is actively refusing to pay out for permanent paint protection investments made right after purchase. They do not stand behind their product or make the consumer whole after putting them in a dangerous situation. Avoid this manufacturer.

Immensely fun to drive wish the interior was a bit nicer.

The driving experience is probably the best I’ve ever had. The handling, performance, engine, and exhaust note make this car incredibly fun to drive. I love cruising around town in N mode just listening to the engine and exhaust. However, the experience has been somewhat spoiled by persistent squeaks and rattles throughout the interior. I’m not sure if my Elantra N is particularly bad, but the noises started only two weeks after I bought it new. I know some people will say it’s based on a cheap compact car, so a cheaper-feeling interior is to be expected, but my brother’s base 2021 Mazda3, which cost around $21,000 new, has a noticeably nicer interior in terms of material quality and has virtually no squeaks or rattles outside of large bumps or rough roads. I’d expect better from a base Elantra, let alone from one that costs nearly twice as much. The seats and steering wheel in the N are excellent, but the constant interior noises have made the ownership experience less enjoyable than I hoped it would be.

I totally LOVE this car (64 years old)

I went back and forth on this car before purchase (i got the white one 6MT), and finally jumped on it during a small snow storm (yes, summer tires and all). I have had ZEEEEEEERO buyers remorse on this thing, it is a ton of fun to just drive. Its totally customizable to set it to behave the way you wish, but its hard not to stomp the right pedal all the time. It has a lot of power, slick shifting 6MT, all the features you MUST have but there are a few that are not there. AC seats, adaptive cruise control, all that has been covered by others and its not really the car for that. The home link garage opener though would have been welcomed. Moving on, if I drive the car the way i usually do its just under 30 MPG which kind of matters with the gas prices up a bit for a little while. HOWEVER, the little ECO button kills some of the fun features, but it can roll beyond 35MPG in that mode. i have found my personal sweet spot is programming the left button for N mode first click, then CUSTOM 1 for the second press of that button (it will only sometimes retain that in memory, but easy to redo). Custom 1 I keep the suspension and steering nice for my old body, but the exhaust and motor are still all perked up. Then, since every single thing is adjustable, the right button i set to cycle between full N and ECO. This car is a total hoot, a heck of a bang for the buck, a blast to drive and a fun handler. The red accents probably give it away as a sleeper more than the little spoiler, but if they hear the exhaust note they understand its not a fake car at all. i have seen several south of nashville here, most common is the sky blue, race blue. Pick your color, then pick it up. No regrets One small gripe, I dont know if its all Elantras or the N, but the fuel door does not open very much so be careful refueling so you dont hack the cover up. I see down below there is no 15 on performance, only goes to 10. The car however goes right to 15 and beyond. This is the second Hyundai in the corral. I also have a 25 palisade midnight that is an exceptional vehicle as well. Might as well put it up on blocks with the Tacoma though since the N is such a blast to drive.

Almost Perfect

I bought this car for racing and it is almost perfect beside the fact that there is octane learning. If the octane learning even worked as advertised, it wouldn't be as bad as it is, but it unlearns randomly and takes forever to learn. With the small gas tank, you are always trying to learn it. I dont know why Hyundai couldn't use knock sensing like every other vehicle in the past 30 years…

It's the best car ive owned, switched from Honda.

It's the best 4 cylinder car on the market for the price point. Please dont jack the price up in 2027 you'll lose your following.

Super fun

I wanted a change in vehicle and the Elantra N gave me just that! So fun to drive. Very responsive great handling in turns. There hasnt been much that I’ve come across that I haven’t loved about this car. The turn radius was an adjustment compared to my previous vehicle but it’s necessary for driving style. I don’t understand why wireless CarPlay wasn’t an added feature. It already has the digital key and wireless charging and WiFi. It seems it wouldn’t have been much to and in wireless CarPlay. The mpg is slightly better than I expected in everyday commuting. The trunk has tons of cargo space. Changing from a suv to this sedan I haven’t been met with challenges yet that have made me question why I made the change. Over all I love the car and happy with my purchase.

Great Performance, Poor Fit and Finish

From a performance standpoint, the Elantra N has been an excellent vehicle. Unfortunately, my vehicle is suffering a rubbing issue which is causing paint to wear off on the bumper, specifically where the bumper meets the fender on the driver side. This is a common issue amongst 2024-2026 Elantra Ns, and there has been no TSB issued. Also, my dealer was unhelpful in resolving this issue so I had to apply touch-up paint myself which is unacceptable on a $40k vehicle.
