Solid EV with some room for improvement

So far this care has been great overall. Easy and fast charging, smooth handling, large display, good climate control buttons, and good looks. The turning radius is a little large and there are a few quirks that are taking a while to get used to, but could likely be fixed with software updates. The screen dimming and automatic headlights dim quickly when passing under overpasses and then take several seconds to return to normal brightness. A small thing, but something I hope they will fix with software. We took it on a trip to San Francisco last weekend from Monterey (220 miles roundtrip) and it was a dream to drive on the freeway and I never worried about the range.

Awesome EV!

This is an amazing car. The quality of design and manufacture are a 10+. It drives awesome, is super roomy and has all the techy features I expect from a vehicle. If I had one complaint it would be that the wiper blades can't be lifted up for cleaning. A minor issue.

Thrilled by this EV

This car is even more fun than I thought it would be. I jumped ship and went all electric and never want to go back. The car is great to drive and has the smoothest ride. Charging has been simple, and I love all the features 2026 Iconiq 5 LTD.

The car is great, but it has some quirks

The car is great. It is so smooth, powerful, and comfortable, it’s a delight to drive. My wife was not a fan of getting an EV, but now she takes any excuse to drive it places. There are some works though; the external light sensors are oddly sensitive, and even driving through the shadow of a tree can make the interior screens dim and the headlights turn on. Also the cruise control does the thing where it watches the driver to make sure their paying attention, but if the wheel is in an elevated position it doesn’t seem to be able to see correctly, and it sends repeated false alarms. Despite the foibles, it’s still great to drive!

Almost perfect.

Just 2 things that need immediate attention. No manual intermittent wipers. Their auto is useless and irregular. Should have an option to switch to regular intermittent. Can not do it. 20k cars have this. Their new eye detect is so worthless and broke. Makes their self assisted driving totally unusable. Very disappointed. Rest of car very good.

Comfy hatch makes easy intro to EV

The 2026 IONIQ 5 is a good introductory EV vehicle. It is spacious for a family of two and comfortable. The Limited trim offers enough amenities to compete with other brands’ higher trims. Having driven it for 2.5 months now, a few things I think Hyundai can improve to make this vehicle the Honda Accord of EVs: 1) improve handling; the vehicle’s rear rolls in sharp turns 2) add FSD; the lane keep/assist is an improvement from a 2020 Lexus but does not hold a candle to Tesla’s FSD. Given where things are headed, I think it needs FSD to remain competitive. 3) add more range; it is listed at about 318 but my experience is like 260-280 only. 4) improve software boot up time; currently too slow (no one likes waiting too long) 5) improve braking performance. Vehicle feels heavy and braking could use improvement

Excellent vehicle for the most part

I do not enjoy the front safety system. It is tooooooo sensitive. It goes off for cars that are turning. Or if I’m passing a car that is in front and to the side but not blocking my path. Please allow us to disable the noise and fully. It is extremely alarming to passengers when I’m going 5 miles an hour and the alarm is blaring like I’m going to crash as I come to a stop. Also have an issue with drivers side airbag warning as well as my seat belt keeps singing for being unfastened while being fastened.

Exceptional Automobile

This is my second Hyundai vehicle. I loved my Tucson Plugin Hybrid, but the Ioniq 5 Limited is a high performance luxury vehicle. The performance is outstanding and the technology is amazing.

Great, but some slight improvements

Overall I'm pretty happy with my Ioniq 5. It has many more features than my old car, like Android Auto. I'm especially enjoying the one pedal driving mode. However, I feel like the braking when letting go of the pedal during one pedal driving is too weak. It's barely enough in most cases, and is not enough when going downhill. It feels like it's balanced around making things not slide in the back, which is super slippery (which is another complaint). However, driving in general is nice. Acceleration is quick when needed, it turns nicely, and it's pretty smooth. I'm tall and I have plenty of head room, even without the seat being bottomed out. I'm also not a fan of the "don't drive distracted" warning that pops up every time I turn on the car. That's not required by Hyundai and adds 10s before I'm able to access things like maps. If you want the time to be 10s, start counting from car on, not when things load. And now there's a second welcome screen after that that doesn't have a count down. Luckily I can just hit the android auto button (rebindable star button) on my wheel for that screen rather than touching a touch screen. Also, locking the on-screen keyboard out while in drive is dangerous. Now I have to pull out my phone to type in an address, or hand it off to a passenger. Passagers cannot enter navigation instructions with the screen while driving. I know that's likely an android auto thing, but hyundai could help fight them on that. You'll probably say "just use voice", to which I'd say it doesn't work most of the time and isn't my preferred way of inputting info into a computer. Keyboard is much more reliable

Great vechicle with good milage and a good bang for the buck

The new 2026 model is cheaper and with more features than the 2024 model I had. With 360+ miules on a single charge, I get a peace of mind. I just wish they remove/disable the "wireless" carplay which is a headache - cannot understand when it works and when it doesn't work.

Only complaint I have is that, besides following all instructions and doing it a multitude of times, the garage door opener on the mirror is not working.

Key fob design is really bad

I HATE that Hyundai killed the key fob. Nobody asked to carry a key separate from a fob. This is a problem the world solved 25+ years ago and Hyundai decided the problem needed to come back? There's extremely limited inside storage areas.
