2020 Tiguan is AWESOME!
I really really like my Tiguan and the SE trim level. The ride is amazingly smooth. The driving experience is, I've learned, adjustable for steering (I like the Sport mode) and transmission and economy. That's very cool! The controls are logically placed and not overwhelming. I've seen other vehicles where the infotainment center is too prominently featured (IMHO) and the Tiguan gets the balance just right. It surprised me when the windshield wipers came on with a mist on the windshield. It was a pleasant surprise.
The safety features on the 2020 Tiguan are exceptional; blind spot notification, front/rear proximity detection, adaptive cruise control. Just amazing and very helpful. Thoughtful details like unlocking/locking the doors with a touch (while the key fob is in your pocket!) are terrific. Good user experience details!
Being able to dial in the type of AWD performance that is applicable for the driving situation is very cool. Plus, the settings can be further tweaked and adjusted with the Car settings on the infotainment panel. I have not yet driven under winter conditions but look forward to it now.
The visibility from the driver's seat is particularly good. I appreciate attention to little details like the glass just in front of where the side view mirrors are. Nice touch to improve visibility instead of just putting a sold spacer there. Well done! The visibility to the sides and behind is also extremely good.
The cargo area is very generous. I like that the hatch doesn't have too much of an angle for the glass. That gives me more storage room instead of wasted space. The CarGo option is great and I would highly recommend that for customers. It really helps to keep things organized in the cargo area.
I am particularly impressed by the back seat. The door glass is extra large which is a visual cue that the back seat is quite roomy. Very comfortable to sit there for even six-foot adults. The seats are just as comfortable as the front seats. The 40-20-40 split really makes a difference for passengers in the back.
Just running my hand over the exterior design when drying the car is a nice experience. The lines are logical and well-placed and very smart looking. Not too many gaudy exterior doo-dads. Sporty looking and functional.
The 2.0l turbo is just fine. The get-up-and go kind of sneaks up on you and before you know it you've exceeded where you were expecting to be. So far I'm getting nearly 30 mpg for mixed driving, well over twice from my previous vehicle, and saving money with the 87 grade of regular gasoline.
24 months of care free maintenance, plus the 48-month warranty, are very nice perks too.
So far I have not found anything I did not like about my 2020 Tiguan. If front seat memory settings were available with the SE trim line, I would've been even further over-the-moon. I came from a BMW to the 2020 Tiguan. To me, the comfort level and attention to detail in the cockpit and cabin are very equivalent. The ride is better in the Tiguan than competitors that I've tried. The Sport option for the steering, available from the Car settings on the infotainment panel, makes the driving experience better for me. The economy of the Tiguan is great too.
Overall, I highly recommend the 2020 Tiguan and the SE trim level!
