Wife's car
This rolling living room is less luxurious than other Lexus's I've owned. It is tippy on turns (but less awful than a Land Cruiser), gets buffeted by winds and gets terrible gas mileage. The 300hp v8 is a good engine - but these days you can get over 300hp from most 6 and some (boosted) 4 cylinder engines ....and get far better gas mileage. The navigation system is terrible (the 800 page manual for the nav is as big as the other manual that covers everything else). The performance, mileage, handling, quality etc of a (somewhat smaller) Mercedes M350 diesel is FAR SUPERIOR to that of a Lexus GX 460 - for the same price ($50-60k, new) but my wife ignored my advice and got the Lexus. I liked the Mercedes so much I got it for myself. The Mercedes will go nearly 600 miles between gas stops - the Lexus stops for gas twice as often. Both are very reliable and going strong after 5 years and 70k miles, but you will pay through the nose for service and minor repairs at the dealer - so make sure you find a trustworthy independent repair shop before buying either one.
