Hyundai Tucson XRT
I've spent some time with my 2026 Hyundai Tucson XRT, and overall it's a comfortable and enjoyable vehicle to drive, but it does have one major drawback that keeps me from giving it a higher rating.
First, the positives. The interior is comfortable, even on longer drives, and Hyundai did an excellent job with the technology. The Bluetooth connectivity works seamlessly, the infotainment display is sharp and responsive, and the overall cabin layout feels modern and user-friendly. For daily commuting and family use, the Tucson is pleasant to spend time in.
My biggest concern is the transmission. It often feels underpowered and hesitant, especially when accelerating from a stop or trying to merge into faster traffic. Gear changes can take longer than expected, making the vehicle feel sluggish at times. There are moments where it seems like the transmission is searching for the right gear rather than responding confidently to driver input.
Because of this, I have serious reservations about towing or hauling anything substantial. While the vehicle may technically be rated to tow, the transmission's lack of urgency and overall performance leaves me questioning how comfortable or capable it would be when pulling additional weight. If towing is a priority, I would strongly recommend taking an extended test drive under those conditions before purchasing.
Overall, the 2026 Tucson XRT offers a comfortable ride, excellent technology, and a well-designed interior. However, the transmission's slow shifting and lack of power prevent it from being a vehicle I can fully recommend without reservations.
