Hyundai Sonata’s have saved my life. Literally.
I have been a Hyundai fan for more years than I have been driving. (I’ve been driving for 10 years now!) I got my first Hyundai at the age of 17. It was a 2011 Hyundai Sonata higher end model, chrome wheels, blue light interior, all silver car. Beautiful, immaculate. From that moment it left a lot of love for the company turning a new stone in my heart for you guys.
I owned that car for a year.. I then traded it in for a new car (my mistake, but younger me wanted a nicer car overall). I went to Honda for a couple years and had an Accord Sport model. Fast forward to 2021, I felt that young me love again for Hyundai in 2021 when I had my eyes on an all black 2021 Hyundai Sonata N. Probably my most favorite Sonata I owned. It was a beast. The engine, the purr, the rhythm in shifting gears, the bucket seats, I talked to her (Veronica, yes I named all my cars Veronica, this one was Veronica 7.0 , 7 for the amount of cars I’d owned to date) with passion.
I owned my N Line for 1 year before getting into a horrible accident. I should’ve died, literally. Hyundai saved my life not once.. but twice. Fast forward to last year, after financially recovering from that accident, walking away with a scratch on my hand but should’ve died, I got a new 2025 Hyundai Sonata SE. beautiful. Veronica 8.0. I love the new facelift. She purred. Not like my N, but she turned heads. I miss her now.. but 4 months ago I was yet again involved in a horrible accident. I should’ve died again. Head on collision with a Deputy who was going 91mph in a 35mph with no lights or sirens. I suffer minor back pain now but I should’ve died. Another scratch on the same left hand from where my hand was impacted by the collision, air bag went off, my hand shot up into the windshield. 2 scars now of remembering Hyundai that saved my life in tragic accidents, 2 scars mixed with each other. I’m getting teary eyed now… but Hyundai (specifically Sonatas) have saved my life. Twice. I should’ve died in my N Line. But I didn’t. I should’ve died again 4 months ago, but I didn’t. I’m here, alive, and with 2 scars of 2 Sonatas that saved my life.
I miss my Sonata(s). Soon maybe in a couple years when I recoup myself again from this I will get a Sonata or a Ioniq 6. Probably another Sonata though, they’ve saved my life.
If anyone at Hyundai HQ would ever like to talk about my experience with Hyundai, I’d love to talk, I’m all ears. 520-255-9063. jonmcadory@gmail.com
