My fourth Hyundai has left me underwhelmed

There are many things I love about my Sonata - the fuel economy, the looks, the tech. But, this is my fourth leased Hyundai and by far the worst. The change to the keyless entry was the first thing I noticed. I can no longer use it with gloves on in the winter. So, when it is below freezing out, I have to take my glove off in order to get into my car. Second, the push button start doesn't always work. There are many times when it doesn't sense the key fob being in the car, forcing me to get the key out of my pocket and press the button with it. This Sonata also has so many interior rattles. They seem to keep popping up and are everywhere. In the doors, in the roof, in the dash. Also, the speakers rattle the doors when there is any sort of bass in the music and sometimes even if a person has a low voice on a podcast or radio show. The infotainment system is also lacking. It seems to have regressed. There used to be a card that displayed with the radio station, song and artist. Now, the only place to see that is in the bottom right corner of the screen. Tapping on that brings up a useless full screen radio card that somehow shows less of that information than the tiny card in the corner.

Great vehicle for seniors and college students travelling frequently

Perfect vehicle so far. Only improvement to mention is the driver's seat. Cushion not designed for heavy people. Needs better cushion.

2015 VS 2025 Sonata comparison.

The 2025 model is incredible! It has so many features that my 2015 model didn't have. I was quite surprised that the 2025 "Limited" edition did not come with HomeLink in the rear-view mirror, or a lockable and lighted glove box, which came in the 2015 model. It would be nice if I could get these options installed. The seats could be a little more comfortable. Other than that, I am ecstatic with my Sonata!

No walk away lock

My 2015 Mazda CX-5 has very limited tech but I can set up the software so that it locks automatically when I close the door and walk away My 2025 Hyundai Sonata which is loaded with tech does not. Why? Why? Why? Such an extremely handy feature that almost every late model car has is not included. Why? Finally it seems everything is already in place to allow that to happen and with a simple software update, it could be available. I have reached out to the dealer. I’ve reached out to Hyundai. I have received ZERO response. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a very good car, but that lack of this very simple feature frustrates me every time I exit the car. Why? My email is gregorykilduff@gmail.com. Would someone please reach out to me to explain why this is? Please. We’re planning to purchase another car in the near future and there is no chance it’ll be a Hyundai because of this frustration and total lack of response from Hyundai to my question.

Reliable and Stylish

600 miles per tank. That alone makes it an amazing car. But then it also looks good, is fun to drive, is reliable and has great features. No complaints at all.

My review

Overall, I love the car. In the Texas heat, I really love the ventilated seats, though I do wish they were more powerful. My last car was a 2020 Honda Insight, and I do prefer the feel and ergonomics of its steering wheel more than the Sonata. But I love all the tech in the car and the big touchscreen, which are much better than the Insight. I LOVE the side cameras when I use the blinkers. I wish I could turn them on without using the blinkers, as I could in the Honda Insight. I don't like the temperature controls not being physical buttons. The temperature controls should ALWAYS be physical buttons. Funny enough, the car has physical buttons for the touchscreen, and I never use them. I do use the physical volume knob though. I'd prefer the physical Home button to be a button on the touchscreen. I love how fast and powerful the USB-C ports are for charging devices. The Insight's engine and brakes were smoother too. There are times when the Sonata lags behind when I push the accelerator or if I apply regen-braking, whereas the Insight didn't. I also prefer that in the Insight, when I add regen-braking, it goes back to no regen-braking after coming to a complete stop. I don't like that it stays after a stop in the Sonata. What I do love about the Sonata over the Insight is that the brake hold button stays on even after I turn off the car. I wish it would do the same for the lane keep assist. I have to turn that on every time I use the car which is annoying. I love getting over-the-air updates for the infotainment system that I didn't get in my Insight. Another thing I preferred with the Insight is the walk-away lock feature with the key fob. I got so used to it that when I got the Sonata I'd walk away from the car after parking it and would forget to lock it, thinking it would lock automatically as the Insight would. I hope in the future y'all make an EV version of the Sonata, as my next car will be an EV for sure. The IONIQ 5 has good tech, but I don't like the way it looks, and I don't want a crossover. I much prefer the look of the Sonata with the light bars.

Don't buy the sanota without making sure it has the equipment you want

The dealers will lie to get you to buy these cars, and will sell you a stripped down model for the price of one with the equipment you were asking for.

My '25 Hyundai Sonata is a good car. I'd buy it again.

Good car, good mileage, dependable, with only a few electronic issues, but sometimes electronics are over-engineered.
