Warranty repair - integrated thermal module broke within 3000 miles

I purchased my 2023 Sonata Hybrid Blue new at a Hyundai dealership. Within 2800 miles of usage (less than three months as I had to travel for a family emergency), the check engine light turned on. I took my vehicle to the nearest dealership on 12/5/2022, where they informed me that the integrated thermal module was malfunctioning and as the part was not in stock they'd need to keep my car with them for a couple days. The part originally had an ETA of 12/7/2022, but I didn't hear from the dealership until 12/9/2022 when I called them asking for an update. At that point they informed me the part was backordered, with a new ETA of 12/21/2022. I then realized I'd need a loaner vehicle, and attempted to text / call the dealership multiple times without a response for several days. When they finally reached out a week later offering a loaner, I was planning to leave town for the holidays in a few days. I left on 12/18 but checked back via text and phone call on 12/21 and 12/23 since their last update had given an ETA of 12/21. They did not answer any of my texts or return my calls, so I had to involve Hyundai Corporate who assigned me a case manager. When I finally got ahold of the dealership on 1/3/2023, they stated that the part was backordered with no ETA. My case manager explained that this meant the part wasn't available in any nearby warehouses, and the dealership confirmed that it can take weeks to months for a part to come in. Bottom line: I find it utterly ridiculous for a vehicle to be breaking down within three months of purchase -- and beyond that, the part has been out of stock for over a month and counting on a 2023 model, when this car is obviously still being manufactured and sold. Not to mention the dealership has been a pain to work with. Would not recommend, though the car itself was nice enough.

It’s a great vehicle, and is good on fuel cost and efficiency.

It’s a good car, I have nothing more or nothing less to add or say. As a customer you should always make sure you love what you’re purchasing, and I love my Hyundai Sonata. I have driven an Elantra and I liked that vehicle too. There’s so many features on either vehicles and that’s regardless if they’re completely loaded or not. Hyundai is the brand I would recommend to anyone.

Excellent experience all around. Our sales professional was awesome.

Love the car

Like the car very much. Like everything about the car. Ride is smooth engine is super quiet. The body style is sweet. The interior of the car is leather with the heated and cooling seats in front was a nice feature.

Love this car

I've had the car for about a month. My only complaints are that the metal in the steering wheel interferes with the heated steering wheel, and the settings for how far the seat goes back when you get out are either too close or too far for my taste. I am short, so I have the seat all the way up, and I have to move sometimes to use the sun blockers. Otherwise, I love this car. The mileage is great, the surrounding view makes it easy to park.

Nice hybrid car

I like the car but I do not have confidence in the dealership or the service department due to high employee turnover. My car came with LoJack (I had no choice even though I didn’t want it) and it took 3 visits to the service department and ultimately talking to the new sales manager and getting him involved to get it activated. The problem was with a faulty LoJack—after 3 trips back to dealer

They wanted to change 10,000 over the price I saw becuse I was paying with my own money. And bank, they wanted their bank so they can make money off me from the interest. Rip off I won’t recommend to my friends

Great car

Our 8th Hyundai. Build quality and mpg is outstanding on this hybrid. 50+ miles to the gallon. Hybrids are engineering's reasonable answer to environmental concerns in the world we actuality live in. Best of both worlds- gas and electric. Makes its own electricity, so no strain on the power grid like the all electric cars. With a 300,000 mile life expectancy for the battery. Couldn't be happier.

Lots of tech and features for price

I purchased the Limited Hybrid after reviewing many other cars. The appearance, features, and tech cannot be best for the price. Trust me I looked. This car has features only found on higher end luxury vehicles. The gas mileage is great and if driven conservatively easily gives 45MPG on the highway. The car feels great and is very comfortable. With the hybrid you do feel the engine jerking a bit when it flips between but is a small price to pay for the MPG savings.

Great Experience to get a Great Car

Very impressed with the 2023 Sonata Hybrid Limited. Everything you could ask for, before going fully electric. Very comfortable, very easy to drive/ride. Sales person professional, listened to me and didn't force the sale

Sonata hybrid has good gas mileage. Had the safety and comfort festures i was looking for and was within my budget. Had some weird quirks, such as changing the screen from one to another on different trips instead of keeping what was set on the prior trip. Sometimes turns on the fan or turned it off. Just first want to keep prior settings as they were set.

My Third Sonata

My 2023 Sonata Hybrid is getting over 50mpg at about 110 miles driven so far. It was excellent value for money and so far can find no quality issues or substitutions caused by the supply chain issues. No other hybrid this size comes close in fuel economy and it is packed with safety features. It took a long time to get and I even ordered and went to pick up a Camry Hybrid that was available sooner than Hyundai could provide. But during my test drive on purchase day I couldn’t get a clear focus on the HUD and the backup camera picture was abysmal. The Toyota dealer kindly returned my deposit. Bottom line: Buy a Hyundai Sonata Hybrid if you can find one and be patient.
