Upscale and Stylish on a Budget
The Palisade is a beautifully crafted vehicle. I regularly get compliments on its design, and I love that it is larger than many of its competitors. The trunk space is especially generous, even with the third row in use, which is a huge plus for families.
The technology meets expectations for a vehicle of this model year, and there are plenty of charging ports throughout the vehicle. One of my favorite features is how incredibly quiet it is inside—it feels almost soundproof while driving, which makes for a very comfortable ride.
I only have a few gripes. First, I wish there were an option for a panoramic sunroof. For a vehicle in this class and price range, I think that would be a great addition.
My second complaint is that, in my opinion, the Palisade does not seem to be designed with mothers or families with young children in mind. The seatbelts do not retract easily, and when using a high-back booster seat, the seatbelt has to be completely removed from the booster, pulled all the way back, and then reconnected in order to latch properly. It can be frustrating and time-consuming when you’re constantly getting children in and out of the vehicle.
There are also quite a few cupholders, but the lower cupholders in the doors aren’t particularly functional because they don’t accommodate most standard drinks or water bottles.
Another issue we experienced was with the headrests. A special pin is required to remove them so that certain car seats can be installed safely and securely. After finalizing our purchase, we actually spent another hour at the dealership trying to figure out how to properly remove the headrest so we could install the car seat. I would have preferred a much simpler and more intuitive system, especially considering how common car seats are for families purchasing a three-row SUV.
Overall, though, I really love the Palisade. It is beautiful, spacious, reliable, technology-friendly, and extremely comfortable. The size is perfect for a growing family, the third row is practical, and the generous cargo space is a major advantage. Despite a few family-friendly design frustrations, I think it is an excellent vehicle and I’m happy with our purchase.
