Good utility, poor quality, and poor dealer service
I’ve owned the car for 2 years and have had many problems with the car and especially with the service that I’ve received. The car has had multiple recalls. One of the recalls was because of problems with the master cylinder. I was unable to use the car for over a month because it took over 3 weeks to get into the dealership and then when I did get in they confirmed that the master cylinder was bad and I had to wait for the part. Next, I’m in the process of moving and the week before the move my check engine light came on with code P0597 (problem with the thermostat). I reset the code and it came back. So I called my Hyundai dealer… again 3 weeks before they have an appointment. I called the other local Hyundai dealers a minimum of 2 weeks. Since I was leaving in under a week I called the customer service line on 5/2/2023 and spoke to with Adullah, at around 8:40 AM CT. He was not very helpful but lead me to believe that I could have the car repaired and that Hyundai would reimburse if they did an inspection. I asked if it was possible to have it escalated to get into the local dealer, he said no, I asked if the could give me a loaner that was capable of towing a trailer, he said no.
On 5/4/2023 I had the car repaired myself (see attached receipt). Drove from Chicago to Tennessee. Then after I arrived in Tennessee I called my local dealer they had me call Hyundai support. Again Hyundai support was not helpful. This time they gave me a case number 21365553. After a discussion of the problem I was escalated to Viola. She basically said it was my problem.
I am a loyal Hyundai owner with multiple Hyundai’s, but question if I will every buy another one. I was stuck in a difficult situation and it seems that no one at Hyundai or the dealerships would help me. I feel it is appropriate that you do something to make up for these problems. Ideally you would reimburse me for the $542 warranty repair, or at least, at a minimum, give me a credit for the expense that I encored.
