An Excellent Three Row S&V, but...

I find it incredibly hard to recommend this or any other eGMP vehicle to anyone based on the ICCU issue. This is one of the best vehicles I've ever owned, but I can't get over the looming disaster if an ICCU failure while far from home. Hyundai, please address this.

Perfect for my needs

I’m very happy with all features of the IONIC 9. Great size for passengers and hauling. I’m rapidly getting over range anxiety with 300 miles plus on 80% charge. My only gripe is the crowded controls on the steering wheel that make it too easy to change settings.

A great EV!

We are delighted with our Ioniq 9. Very thoughtfully designed. They really thought of everything. Extremely quiet with lively acceleration. We live in snow country, so we needed the AWD. The one pedal regenerative braking is great, as are the safety features.

Need More Time To Decide

Low Predicted Reliability Than Average New Car based on data from other Hyundai/Kia EVs. Uses similar failing ICCU 12v battery charging module going back to the 2022 Ioniq 5. This should have been hopefully "fixed" before the Ioniq 9 was released. Time will tell.

We love it

Overall this is an excellent vehicle- reliable and comfortable for the whole family. It charges fast and has lots of creature comforts. I still can’t enroll my phone with the Apple wallet though

Good Car, with a few tweaks could be great

I enjoy driving this car, as I did my EV previously. A few tweaks and it could be a lot better. 1. Stop making the back storage area with carpet. It snags, it gets dirty, it's way too hard to clean. 2. The back lift gate does NOT stop when it hits a person...I had my arm in it and it did NOT stop trying to go down, ended up with bruises on my entire forearm. I was able to get my arm out, but I was sore and swollen for a week. 3. The infotainment system is very hard to navigate. When I want to find where to do something, I often have to look 3 or 4 times to figure it out. Make buttons on the dash to push or a touch screen, not both. 4. Whatever that fake wood looking stuff is on the dash, is awful. It looks like cheap wallpaper, I am trying to figure out how to cover it up. 5. Having a towing vehicle with a charger in the rear of the vehicle is really not useful. When I am towing and need to charge...how the hell am I supposed to? I am lucky if I find an empty charging station so I can pull sideways with the trailer behind, but otherwise would need to drop the trailer and then go charge. If I am at a Tesla charging station, their charging cords are even shorter than most.

Quite seriously, one of the best (if not the best) cars I have ever driven. Hyundai did it right (I own a 2025 Santa Fe and traded in a 2023 Ioniq 5 to purchase). This is our everyday car, drive it everywhere. With the new agreement with Tesla, we took it on a road trip (something I wouldn't do with the 5) and absolutely impressed with the ride, range and overall comfort. Every family member or friend who have driven in it has been impressed as well. Thanks Hyundai

Fun to drive

Coming from a gas powered SUV, the ride in the Ioniq 9 is incredibly smooth. It’s super comfortable and so nice inside. It has some quirks in the display controls and wireless CarPlay, but overall fun to drive.

I love my Ionic 9. The three rows of seats are critical for a busy mom and the back seat area is huge. There are so many amazing bells and whistles. It’s drives extremely smooth and feels like a European car.

Luxurious vehicle, with a few flaws

Really enjoyed the vehicle. The cabin is open and spacious and can fit a lot of people and / or cargo. The automatic wipers are terrible and need to go. The charging is good, but the efficiency of the vehicle could be improved a bit. It would be great to see closer to ~2.8-3.0 miles per kwh highway efficiency in the vehicle to allow for a highway range closer to ~300 miles (Toyota seems to have unlocked that efficiency with their Highlander EV).

So much potential

Overall a great vehicle : great comfort, front looks great, a lot of features in SEL. somethings definitely need to fix: the rear exterior design looks bad; need phone/app only entry like tesla or ev9; door handles need redesigning - kids 5-7yo cant seem to be able to open door from outside or inside easily; SEL should include simple feature for owners to customize lights (headlights, interior)

Great, spacious, luxury all electric SUV

Well built and designed. Very comfortable an luxurious inside. Great on long trips. One sees, however, it was modified from an ICE platform and hasn't embraced all the advantages of an all electric - yet. I'm sure they will continue to smooth the integration and software. Meanwhile, I love every day that I drive it.

Outstanding value for a seven passenger SUV!

Trading in a 2023 dual motor Ioniq 6 SE which replaced a plug-in Volt with a 67 mile electric range. Loved the long range I-6 it was quiet, powerful and could travel 300 miles between highway charges at the speed limit. Would still have the I-6 but weekly overnights with three grandchildren in late 2025 created challenges in transportation. Got a wonderful lease deal on the Ioniq 9 SEL trim - it is even quieter, more comfortable and transporting three grandchildren with child car seat and two boosters is a breeze. In 160 mile interstate trips at the speed limit indicates a highway range of 300 miles given the bigger I-9 battery. Pleasant to drive and the dual motors have adequate power. Good news was that insurance, outrageous in Florida, was a $1,000 less per year than the I-6 dual motor - mostly due to the better protection and the latest safety features.

Upgrade from Ioniq 5 worth every penny

I converted to electric 3 years ago. If moving from my first EV to my second is any indication of the future, I can not wait for the future of Hyundai. The Ioniq 9 is an incredible ride with great range. I couldn’t be happier.
