I’ll never go back to an internal combustion engine vehicle. The car is so quiet and comfortable. I traded in a BMW 530i because of the excessive cost of repairs. This car drives as well.

The Ioniq 5 is a winner

When we went to Hyundai to look at a car we couldn’t have imagined that the Ioniq5 XRT would be our next car. After our test drive we were impressed with the ride quality and how quiet the car is and the power was very impressive as well. We’ve had our Ioniq 5 for almost 3 months and are very happy with it. The tech is first class and the build quality seems very good I do have to say there is a learning curve when driving it it’s much easier to speed if your not paying attention to the odometer. The charging is easy and the speed at a super charger is nice. We really wonder why we didn’t go electric sooner. Thank you Hyundai for an awesome car.

Over all I do enjoy this vehicle. It's comfortable and has a smooth quiet ride. But, know what was removed from the previous year is disappointing. I'd also like to point out how plasticy the touch points and door cards can feel. The sound system is abysmal. I think, if you were going to remove some of features that the 2025 model had you cold have perhaps upgraded the interior (soft touch) and put in the center speaker and the subwoofer (non-Bose) to make it feel less like a low trim vehicle.

Almost perfect

Almost everything about this is an improvement over previous models. There are two noticeable exceptions though, the eye tracking is unreliable if you wear glasses. The settings imply you can turn it off, but it stays on while using cruise or lane keep. The wireless charger pad doesn't provide sufficient charging speed to even maintain a charge.

Great car, but could use some tweaks

Overall great car. Could use a few tweaks. I would love to see a back windshield wiper fluid option to clean my back window. The car should be able to lock the doors without all the doors needing to be closed first from the door handle. Same thing for the trunk if I open and close the trunk, I should be able to lock my car doors from the door handle without waiting for the trunk to close. Or unlock the doors from the handle without having to wait for the trunk to close all the way. The cameras for parking could be improved. Currently they make the car look distorted making it hard to park at times. When going to the radio, it should automatically go to my favorite channels, right now I have to click to go to my favorites. The air flow throughout the cabin could be better, currently has lots of air in the front but not the back. It also will randomly decide when to turn on driver only air flow or not. Sometimes I will turn it off and it will stay off for days. Other times I turn it off, stop for a quick snack and then get back in and its off and my passengers get hot. I like how it drives and it is very comfortable. Love the safety features, but sometimes it beeps at you too much (maybe too sensitive).

Great engineering and technology and no sticker shock at gas pump

First ever EV for me and I am loving it. The Ionic 5 is beautifully styled inside and out and the technology is state of the art. I have only had my car for a few months, and driven just over 1200 miles, but so far I am very pleased and satisfied. I have used charging stations twice, one a Tesla supercharger which was great and needed no adaptor. The second charge did require use of an adaptor - but that was very easy to figure out. I love the moon roof and all the interior finishes. Still discovering new features but the advanced technology takes time to grasp and use. The only option I elected was the acrylic coating and that turned out amazing. I can shave in my reflection (I have black metallic color). This is a great car.

Nice, but I won't depend on it

Features and build quality and most of the design is stellar for the money. It's very quiet and comfortable (although the "relaxation" seat feature is a useless gimmick). The turning circle is oddly large and so it can't go into my garage, it has to sit in the driveway which means I need to put a car cover on and that's awkward. Some of the controls I *still* can't get to work right after 3 months and 3K miles of driving, theres simply a lot built in and and not enough basic task-oriented material in the manuals (which are reference-style, which pretty useless when you don't even know what the car can actually do or what the icons all mean!) I take off a star for the fragility of the inside surfaces (e.g., the door "tyvek" fabric ripped under normal use inside 2 weeks of ownership) and the interior "soft" material stays dented rather than springing back; and I take off a star for reliability/sturdiness. Thus the 3-star rating. The reliability issue is, of course, the ICCU and the uncertainty I now have about depending on the car due to the ICCU issues (I should have researched before buying.) I also am dismayed there's no spare tire (again, I should have researched) because this reduces the overall reliability/availability of the vehicle; at just over 2K miles I got a slow-leak flat from a screw, and had to leave it overnight, pump it up the next morning to drive to a tire shop, then sit 4 hours while they got to my no-appointment emergency; if I'd had a spare I would have dropped it off and come back later. So, there are pluses and minuses - all in all, I'm happy with the purchase for medium-distance road trips that stay inside cell coverage and towable distances to a Hyundai dealer; but we still find ourselves using the 2022 Chevy Bolt more often around town, and I haven't yet been willing to take a riskier road trip in it.
