Love this car

Found this car way more fun to drive than I ever expected. I have always driven a standard and found the paddle shifting regen to bring that same joy to driving an EV.

Good hardware, good software, poor integration, mediocre UX

We leased this vehicle based on online information, a test drive, and reading up on all of the features. The car pretty much does all of the stuff we want it to do, it's just clunky getting it to do those things. For instance, it has profiles for both me and my wife who have very different seating and HUD adjustments. But, it can't use a key to figure out which one of us is getting into the car. And, if I drive the care after my wife has driven it, even though I switch to my profile it still tries to take the driver's seat back to the position it was in for my wife which basically shoves me into the steering wheel. And it seems like a lot of the stuff works that way. Great features, poorly integrated.

A fabulous electric car

I recently purchased an Ioniq 5 2025. It was to replace a totalled Genesis gv60. The thing I like about this car is the bigger range being 320 versus 240 for the gv60. While the ioniq is not as luxurious as the genesis it is more than adequate. It’s totally comfortable to drive in city or highway. I’ve had it 4 months and all things are performing smoothly.

Amazing car. Awful range.

EPA estimated range is 269 miles. Actual range before requiring charging is between 160-180 miles in summer time. Winter time its less than 160 miles.

Car is great, but the all electric isn't what I had hoped as far as mileage and savings. Probably great for local driving, but not seeing any advantages for long distance.

First electric vehicle, Ionic5

Decided to go electric after getting screwed by Landrover on our evoque and decided to go for something different, went to Phil long Hyundai in Colorado Springs, wife loved the cars we drove but this one stood out, the staff there sealed the deal, they couldn’t have been better !

Better than I hoped for!

Drives like the quietest sports car you have ever been in. First new car that feels and drives differently than any other car I have had. Actually, first car that is “fun” to drive. Did not expect this.

Fun to drive, missing a few features

Was in the market for an Ioniq 5 Limited AWD, but none were available in my area, so I purchased the XRT right before the $7500 tax credit expired. Was extremely disappointed to hear that immediately after my purchase, Hyundai lowered the prices for the Ioniq 5 by over $9000. Poor timing. The XRT is fun to drive, very quick & zippy, very fast acceleration and love the instant torque of an EV. Ride is pretty smooth and car handles well. Just wish the XRT had the options of Head Up Display, grey interior and sunroof. No issues so far after two months. All in all would recommend this car to anyone looking to get an EV.

Great EV with a major flaw

Believe all the positive reviews of the 2025 Ioniq 5 EXCEPT the cruise control sensor that monitors fatigue through an infrared beam fails constantly causing warnings and eventual shutdown. Hyundai TSB speaks to issue and says there is no fix, suck it up. This is unacceptable. My service manager is doing great work helping but Hyundai has a product feature that does not work

Great car held back by some major ergonomic issues

This vehicle is probably a 5/5 for anyone of average height, but as someone very tall, it simply does not accommodate comfortable driving. The combination of shallow pedal area, short maximum wheel telescoping, and position of shifter on steering column leads to having to choose between hitting the shifter with your knee or straining your neck to reach the steering wheel.

My First EV

1. There is a unique peculiar smell to the car. I'm not sure if it is the materials, but my car does not have the 'traditional' new car smell like that of an ICE vehicle. 2. I'm still learning the vehicle and having fun exploring the EV's capabilities and vehicle diagnostics. 3. I wish the center console slid fore/aft. I'm 6'1" and have the driver's seat pretty far to the back. The center armrest rubs against my right leg when I'm driving. If I could slide it to the rear it would free up some room. 4. I could use more enclosed storage in the center console. 5. It's nearly impossible to reach the glove box from the driver's seat. 6. There is a slight rattle from somewhere in the vicinity of the driver's side pillar/passenger window area. 7. The tires constantly need air to keep them inflated to the recommended 38 PSI. 8. Help me understand the logic why I cannot adjust the regenerative braking level using the paddle switches while the cruise control is set.

Safety features over zealous and too lax at the same time

see above. There’s eyes forward feature is far too strict. I can’t drive with sun glasses AND looking at the radio for a few seconds causes great nagging and even restricts driving choices. At the same time, there is a real safety issue that exists and is unaddressed. Worse, when i emailed the company with my sincere concern, i was completely ignored. When in full ipedal mode, the brake lights don’t come on when the car begins to brake. I was concerned that might be a possibility and tried to figure out on my own if the lights were coming on. I then did a quick internet search and found an excellent YouTube video fully explaining the issue with respect to the Ioniq5. As a retired lawyer, i well understand how Hyundai will argue on favor of a loophole in the federal regulation that you will argue permits this. However, even if true under law, that does nothing whatsoever to answer the moral obligation with respect to the company’s obligation. The company’s failure to substantively address the important safety issue when i personally sent concerns is even worse, in my opinion. What a sham process!
