Loving this EV

This is our first EV and we love it. The features, the tech, the ride, everything. We've had it for over two months and have had no issues so far. In the Ioniq 5, the only negative we have is when putting three adults in the back it feels a little cramped for the middle person.

Great car, but there are nuances.

This is my first electric vehicle. And my overall experience is great. The car is sturdy, pleasant to drive, battery range is very good for my style of driving within the city, the car is spacious and allowes me to have everything I ususally need for my work and leisure rutines. However there are nuances: the doors interior is not very scratch and stains resistant, the phone wireless charger gets overheated while the sun is intense, there is no shelf covering the trunk from inside, and charging at Tesla chargers is tricky: I have to occupy 2 spots because the charging cords at Tesla are very short to reach the car port from the right side, so I have to use the neighbor charger. This is inconvenient when the charging station is full.

Driving this car is a learning experience. There are + and -.

I love the acceleration in the car. It is comfortable, and quiet. Dislikes are the cruise control with the driver assist. I hate it. This car is almost too smart and I don't feel like I have control. I hydroplaned a little in the big storm a few weeks ago and it suggested I needed sleep?

Makes the Transition to EV Easy.

Though the vehicle has tons of settings and options, the tactile buttons provide a level of familiarity and eliminates the need to manage everything from an interactive screen. Anyone new to EVs can sit in the car, use the pushbutton start, put the car in drive, push the 'gas' pedal and go. The ride is smooth and quiet and I love doing my 'fueling' at home vs stopping at a gas station. The car simplifies life.

We enjoy the car very much. Two strong negatives is the plastic bumper that does a poor job protecting air flaps and trunk is not very deep. Also, would appreciate better highway efficiency. Arm rest in front should be a little deeper to hold more items out of site.

Great EV!

This EV get’s very good driving range, charges relatively quickly using a DC fast charger. I love that it has a built-in NACS charge port. Quick, quiet, high-quality materials inside.

Review 2025 Ioniq 5 "Hunni"

Hunni the Hyundai is a wonderful car to drive. The ride is soft and quiet, the acceleration (and deceleration) is fantastic, good clearance, all wheel drive when needed, and - as a special bonus - there is a rear window wiper! A major downside is the required "spaceship" noise when backing up or driving less than 20mph (for those of us who love the quiet). Lots of little customizable things to keep you interested, and easy adjustments with steering wheel buttons, wheels, and paddles. Many charging locations on the road, and the overnight garage charging keeps us going. Love it!

I like the car a lot. I think that it's got many good features like the entertainment system, handling, turn radius, mileage per charge, and visibility. It has a couple of quirks like it will open automatically with the key (or phone app) present, but it doesn't lock automatically when you walk away from it.

Efficient, beautiful styled, good value

efficient, can fast charge, cool looking, the 2025 model has NACS port and also comes with adaptor to use CCS, good value, and that's all that really matters - save by swapping gas with electric along with an affordable monthly payment. Now onto the downsides: dimension wise it's a bit on the smaller size, especially when comparing to the Model Y. The back seat will be tight for 3 passengers, and rear truck space can put about 3 full size luggages. No clear placement in the center console area for phone number, will be an odd/awkward placement on the left if you are not used to it. Ride is a bit on a sporty side. Trunk lift is hard to close. Interior (door panel) may be difficult to clean because of its moon-crater/dot design, dirt gets trapped inside the little squares. no grab handle in front row

Exceeded my expectations

I am pleasantly surprised with my 2025 Ioniq 5. It has, mostly, exceeded my expectations in terms of comfort, driving, and quality. After purchasing my new Ioniq 5 my wife and I drove it nearly 4000 miles on a cross country road trip. During that trip I found several issues with the tech that bothered me. I am hoping that the software update that is to be available in a couple days is going to remedy the problems I have with some of the vehicle operation and navigation technology. The thing that bothers me most in my vehicle is the constant warnings about taking a break and keeping eyes on the road. This is maddening and goes off far too often and for no reason whatsoever. It is worse with sunglasses on, but even with them off it warns me if I so much as turn my head to look at something in my blind spot or out the window. I should be able to disable these systems, they are incredibly annoying and actually detract from safety rather than aid it. They also detract from the overall experience of driving in the car. I leased my Ioniq 5 for 3 years thinking I may buy the car at the end of the lease. But I will not buy this car, or buy another Hyundai if it has these systems and they cannot be disabled. It is especially annoying on long trips when you want/need the vehicle to be comfortable. One other problem that I have heard will be fixed in a coming update is that the Hyundai navigation system does not allow me to specify the SOC I want to arrive at a charger with. It also does not allow me to choose my route, it always routes me on a highway, even if I want a different back road route. Our road trip was on (mostly) Route 66, the Hyundai nav app was completely useless. I ended up using the app called ABRP (with an OBD dongle) instead. My "Comfort" rating of 4 out of 10 is due to the f'ing safety warnings!! If not for them the comfort of the vehicle would be 8 or 9. My reliability rating is 5, but only because I don't know what the car's reliability is yet, time will tell on this. So far so good, but there are some people having issues (I hope I don't!)...
