Loved this car, until the battery died after just 5000 miles

This was the perfect car for me. Performance, practicality, fun, space, and reasonably affordable. But unfortunately, the battery pack has failed within a year after just 5000 miles. I have never tracked the vehicle, never pushed it too hard, and almost always kept it below 80% charge and followed battery best practices. But even with the best possible care, the 5 N ultimately has failed and will likely take months to repair. This is very disappointing, and has rocked my confidence in the car, and likely for all other Hyundai EVs, if not all EVs altogether. Had this survey come in just two weeks ago, prior to the failure, it would receive 5 stars without a doubt.

Old the moment you buy it

Love the look, love the power, HATE the ADAS, disappointed with 0 feature updates in 2 years. The ADAS false positives so often it's worse than having none. You just tune out all the constant beeping and it's worse than having nothing. 0 feature software update OTA in 2026? No options added like turning on ipedal all the time or even disable portions all the time. This is my first and definitely last Hyundai.

Amazing car with amazing setbacks and worries

The car is lovely to drive but the controls are terrible. Waiting on a touchscreen to boot up is awful for things like turning on heated seats, adjusting climate, starting nav. It's really stupid that I can turn hvac on with a button but need to navigate to a menu on a touchscreen to turn it off again. Basically everything about the touch screen is stupid and I hate it. I want my physical buttons back. I don't like that you are capturing my driving data and selling it. I won't be a returning customer because of it. The car as shut down spontaneously losing driving control and power steering a couple times with no indication of how to recover. I am aware of the ICCU issue which seems to be unresolved. It hasn't happened to me yet but I worry every time i drive the car that the ICCU will fail. Something creeks in the rear of the car when I go over bumps. A car this expensive shouldn't make these kind of noises. A car this expensive should have power adjustable front seats.

A blast to drive, handy but lacks range.

Absolutely love driving it. Its so much fun. Large trunk, spacious rear seats and very comfortable hugging front seats. A few things i would love to have added. Power front seat, heads up display and most importantly a sun roof.

Nearly perfect

Instant, torque-y, neck-snapping power at any speed? Check! The app sometimes failing to unlock the door while you're standing in the wind or rain or snow right next to the car? Also check! Overall, this car is truly amazing – but sometimes the simplest conveniences are a problem. Still recommend it, but occasionally frustrating.

Fun but issues

The car is fun to drive, I had the dreaded battery issue at less than 6,000 miles. I wish the vehicle had more range as you really can't get on it except in short burst without range anxiety. The paint is sub-par, as I will have to fix chips and peeling before lease is up. I want to keep the vehicle but actual value will be lower than residual value, and I did the brake delete, and never received the rebate. So as much as it is fun to drive, it’s come with some headaches.

Great idea that Hyundai can’t service

Love driving the car but every time it requires servicing it is in the shop for weeks at a time and it is never ready when promised. First and last Hyundai I will buy. Hyundai corporate was absolutely useless in addressing these problems

Love my car most of the time, but the back window gets dirty very quickly and is hard to clean. Back camera also get dirty quickly. All cameras have a hard time staying clean with our snowy winters.

This is by far the BEST and FUNNEST vehicle i've ever owned

This thing is just amazing. It goes from standard ol electric vehicle, to OVERBLOWN sports car/real-life-video-game-simulator. It's just a BLAST every time I get behind the wheel. No HV battery issues. No ICCU issues. But, yea, it's got that Ioniq 5 'trunk rattle'! LOL. So glad Ive got one - *ESPECIALLY* before they put in the nanny-monitoring of the 2026...

Amazing car, if it wasn't a lemon.

Incredible performance overshadowed by catastrophic, repeat high-voltage battery failures at ~1,600 and ~5,400 miles. Currently grounded and awaiting corporate Collateral Exchange.

A little rocket ship on 4 wheels

I have had many performance vehicles over the years and besides my '99 Corvette Convertible, this is my favorite. The 'N' is even faster than my Corvette and handles very well too. I love all the room it has and is perfect for carrying my golf clubs and cart. The styling gets many comments and the try-colored paint and wheels make it a real standout. I have had no issues other than the rear hatch rattles more than I'd like. Oh, the original tires did wear out in 4K miles with a very strange wear pattern that manifested itself as a groove on the inside of all the tires especially the rear ones. I put a new set on that is designed for EVs and I have 4K more miles on it with no apparent unusual wear happening so far. I would try to avoid Pirelli PZeros if possible an ask for a tire made specifically for EVs. Overall, I'm very happy with this car and plan on keeping it for a very long time.
