Azera Experiences ( 1st 120,000 ,miles)
I have owned some 12 automobiles in my life ;mostly ,GM 88 Oldsmobiles. The last one being a front wheel drive 1996 supercharged red Olds LSS .While the latter gave me good service over about 12 years and 150 thousand miles;it was grossly under-braked and when hitting bumps in the road ,had the classic long wave GM bouncy recovery. It also did not deliver nearly the extra (cost) performance one would have expected from the large supercharger ,cast iron blocked 3.8L V6 engine.. I now have 120 thousand miles on my 3.8L V6 Azera which over the past 9+ years has been from Cape Breton (Nova Scotia ) to Key West,Fla.; from the East Coast to the BadLands,Black Hills,Yellow Stone ,Grand Tetons down to Salt lake City.It has been from there to Durango, ,Grand Canyon, Rockies and almost every park in between ,to Albuquerque,Carlsbad Cavernes,Dallas Texas,Baton Rouge to Pensacola ,Fla. There have also been many other trips throughout the midwest and southern states. It has been an order of magnitude more reliable and better performing vehicle than my Olds LSS and cost me less in real dollars than my Olds LSS to buy and maintain. It has better acceleration and stopping power. My arthritic wife also really loves the electronic steering wheel ,brake peddle, power seat, and outside mirror automated positions adjust system package. From the very beginning of purchase, it has demonstrated an excellent well-dampened /balanced premier suspension system that most of the time makes you forget it is a front wheel drive vehicle, It has been the most reliable comfortable car we have ever owned. Based on my early happiness with the Azera . It is obvious that Hyundai used the Azera as the advanced development vehicle for pioneering the luxury components/systems subsequently introduced on the Genesis Luxury sedan product line. Based on my extreme happiness with the Azera, I subsequently purchased a 2010 Genesis 3.8 V6 coupe with which I have been equally pleased. L.Ken Keys,Prof.,Dean of Engineering,Retired.
