Be careful with buying
On September 30, 2017, I purchased a 2017 Hyundai Accent at Towne Hyundai located at 3170 Route 10, Denville, NJ 07834, (973) 366-7777. My sales person was Sonny Bulak. The entire process to purchase the car (from the time I entered the dealership to the time I left) was 5 hours and 45 minutes. This is unacceptable. I made my choice of car within the first 25 minutes upon arriving at the dealership. The rest if the time was processing the sale. I have excellent credit so that was not a delay issue. Sonny stated that a person who worked in the finance department unexpectedly quit the dealership earlier that week – thus the reason for the delay. I told Sonny that I was one of the first customers in the dealership that day and one of the last to leave. This is extremely poor customer service.
When I test drove the car, there were 6 vertical water streaks (3 on each side of the car) running from below the door down along the outer frame under the door. Sonny had these streaks wiped off when I left the dealership. It had rained during the next week. The streaks appeared again. On October 7, 2017, I met with Sonny to discuss this issue. Sonny acknowledged that water will pool under the door and then run down along the bottom part of the frame leaving a streak. Sonny stated that all of the new Hyundai’s have this, and that he noticed the streaks on all of the new cars at the dealership. Sonny stated that Perry (of the dealership Detail Department) informed him that the streaks were caused by the cars design. I asked him why he did not tell me of this. He said that he did not know of this until after the sale. I do not want to keep wiping off streak marks. With this issue of water pooling under my door, there will be a rust problem. I am escalating this to Hyundai’s Corporate Office for resolution.
