Nice but I was expecting a little more

Great looking vehicle inside and out. Accelerates very fast and breaks efficiently. Has a lot of great technology. Unfortunately, I feel every bump in the road unlike the Lexus **, Cadillac, Chevy Tahoe, SUVs. I wish the gas mileage was better. Feels like I’m going to the pump every 5 to 7 days so that 19 miles per gallon average must be in economy mode with no passengers. And for this price, I should be able to operate the middle folding seats from the front console instead of just the third row seats. I should’ve took my time and shopped around a little longer but great looking vehicle.

Genesis GV 80 review

I love my vehicle, and I am so happy I bought it. I couldn't find one that I liked in the area that I live, so I traveled all the way to Jones Junction to purchase this vehicle. The showroom there was beautiful and certainly added to the buying experience. The sales manager and the sales person made the whole experience pleasant, which is different from every other buying experience I have had. Thank you, Jones Junction.

We are DieHard Genesis fans!

This is our fourth Genesis vehicle. To say that we are fans is an understatement. Each vehicle has gotten better and more luxurious and our 2026 GB 80 is an outstanding example of luxury and modern technology. There is nothing bad to say about this car. I get told what a beautiful vehicle it is several times a week at least when I am out and about. She is a head turner for sure!

Love it- except…

Nicest vehicle I have ever driven after 15 years with Audi. The gear selector is a dangerous design. Driving from New Jersey to Colorado my dog bumped it and it tried to put it in reverse. I was going 89 miles. A Driving from New Jersey to Colorado my dog bumped it and it tried to put it in reverse. I was going 89 miles a hour and it went into neutral. My dog should not be able to accidentally change gears. The car is too automated requiring too much time with the eyes off the road.

Best riding vehicle I’ve ever owned!

I love everything about this vehicle but if I had to give it one negative, it would be getting into the vehicle is a little tough because of the distance from the ground to the car door sill. It would be awesome if the vehicle would drop down 4” when it’s shut off for easier exit and entrance. Other than that, I love my GV80!

Great Concept but

The idling takes this car out of the luxury category. The idea and concept is great the follow through misses the mark. For the price point the cabin should absolutely be much quieter. We have another luxury car at the same price point and when you shut the door you are in another environment all together. Each time we have put this vehicle on a road trip we have experienced an “issue”. While the customer service for Genesis in Winston Salem is stellar, a car this age conceptually should not have code errors. That is my reason for the low score on reliability. We immediately had our car towed to avoid any additional issues. Especially since we didn’t know what was going on with the error code that presented itself. Additionally we had another error code though easily explained it is always jarring for a car that is brand new to show errors so early on.

Luxury, Tech, and Design Done Right a Few Opportunities to improve

After spending some real time with my 2026 Genesis GV80 Prestige Black, I can honestly say I’m extremely impressed overall with the vehicle. After spending some real time with my 2026 Genesis GV80 Prestige Black, I can honestly say I’m extremely impressed overall with the vehicle. The first thing that stands out is the build quality. The GV80 feels exceptionally solid and well assembled, with a true luxury feel throughout the cabin. The interior materials, fit and finish, ride quietness, and overall design are excellent. The vehicle has a very premium presence both inside and out, and I continue to get compliments on the styling. I also really like the technology and interface. The large screen is clean and modern, and the infotainment system is intuitive overall. Genesis did a great job balancing technology with physical controls, which I still prefer over fully touch-based systems. A few areas could still be improved: • The two large rotary knobs in the center console are too similar in size and placement. One controls the transmission while the other controls infotainment functions, and it’s easy to reach for the wrong one while driving. More differentiation between them would help. • There isn’t a great built-in location for mounting or storing a phone, especially for drivers who prefer a visible phone mount setup. • The vehicle would benefit significantly from an available air suspension option. The ride is already very good, but adaptive air suspension would take it to another level and better match some competitors in this segment. • The rear windshield wiper placement could be cleaner. Having it hidden at the top of the rear window instead of mounted visibly at the bottom center would improve the rear design. • I would love a smarter cargo-area close function. For example, if the liftgate is open, it would be great to press a button, walk away carrying packages, and have the trunk automatically close once the key is a certain distance away. Right now, if your hands are full, you still need to return to the vehicle to close it. • Fuel economy is acceptable but not exceptional for the segment. I think the upcoming hybrid version will be a major improvement and likely an excellent option. • The auto-park feature could use refinement. Coming from a Tesla, I’ve found Genesis’ system more difficult and less intuitive to use. It works, but there is definitely room for improvement in ease of use and overall confidence. Overall though, Genesis has built a genuinely impressive luxury SUV. The GV80 delivers a premium experience, strong technology, beautiful styling, and excellent value compared to many competitors. I’m very happy with the vehicle and look forward to seeing how the Genesis brand continues to evolve.

The brand I didnt know I needed

I have enjoyed everything about my GV80. It checks all my boxes, and I could not be happier with my first new-car purchase. The cargo room and luxury features check every box for me.

Great vehicle. Not perfect.

I am generally pleased with my new GV80. I picked this SUV over the GV70 to have more room. However, the second row legroom is tight. Also, because of the 3rd row seating there isn't much room under the trunk surface. Also, my 2019 Acura RDX had a helpful function. When I walked away from the car it would automatically lock my doors. I am surprised that this option isn't offered in the GV80. Also, when I approach the GV80 and bring my hand close to the door handle, it takes like 10 seconds for the doors to unlock which is a little slow compared to other cars. Also, I don't like the fact that there is no dedicated place for the front license plate.
