2023 GV70 Review

Car rides great. I love the looks of the car and the safety features. The biggest critique is there is noise that appears to come from rear of car while driving, esp. highway.

Handle’s very well

I love the looks and driving of the vehicle. The camera view when changing lanes is awesome. I never want to go without that safety feature again. My only complaint with this car is the locking/unlocking of the vehicle. Sometimes the external button and/or internal lock does not work. You must dig out your fab from your purse to lock. Very frustrating to me. Need to understand why you cannot simply hit the lock button on the inside of the door.

'23 GV 70 - My favorite car

I purchased this car in 2023 brand new, and it would be my first Genesis model. I immediately enjoyed driving it. Although it is the 2.5T version, it has more than enough power for me. Even two years later, people stop me to ask about its color, comfort, and my overall happiness with the car. I should note that I have Matte paint on the GV70, and people are always wowed by it. As noted in the title, it is definitely my favorite car. Great performance and wonderfully comfortable seats are two of its top features.

Pretty Car with Some Bug

One of the more attractive SUV’s in its Class. A pleasant driving and riding vehicle but still below its competitors - BMW and Mercedes. Have had more mechanical issues than with most prior vehicles. Some other annoying issues with the complexity of the locking system - too many ways of doing something and still not getting what you wanted. The variety of tech functions is often just more than needed. And, I am a long time tech professional. The worst navigation and map display ever.

GV70

Pros: Looks good, lots of options, a joy to drive. Tray in the Service department at the Genesis dealership in Norman has been outstanding to work with and goes above and beyond, every time I’ve had my car in for service. He definitely deserves 5 stars. Cons: I have had to take my car back to the dealership multiple times, due to transmission issues. At this point, I have little confidence that the issue has been fully resolved (I hope I’m wrong!).

GV70

I really like most aspects of my GV70. There are only a couple things I’d change. I would have liked full leather seats. The parking brake is EXTREMELY annoying! It turns on every time the vehicle comes to a stop.

Rear differential issue

A GV 70 is a nice awd car. However, the rear differential makes an odd noise when coasting in the Eco mode. We brought it in for repair as a newer car, and now the sound is returning again.

My GV70

Love it. Smooth ride. Picks up speed very quickly. The safety features are awesome. The lane change assist is definitely one of my favorite features. The cameras all around the vehicle helps when parking. Love the car.

I love some things and dislike others

I really dislike the app it rarely works for remote start etc. I’ve had to call like 20 times in the few months I’ve owned the car. I really dislike the dash features. Any setting I change…They do not stay for the next time I start the car. So disappointing. Even if I put it in a certain drive mode does not stick. If I turn auto stop off does not stick! If I adjust the heat or anything else does not stick! Ugh so frustrating otherwise love the car please fix these issues and I would be a repeat customer for sure

Significant Throttle Lag that causes a dangerous situation

My GV70 had periodic but significant throttle lag that created an unsafe driving experience. Imagine making a left turn with oncoming traffic and you press the gas peddle and nothing happens for 3-4 seconds. The issue happened every couple of weeks so not often enough for the dealer to experience it in a test drive and because it did not generate a code, the dealer could not fix it. They suggested taking a video with my cell phone while driving in an attempt to get it recorded. Rather than continuing to put ourselves in physical risk, we returned the car months before the lease was up and we'll never buy another Genesis product again.

Johnson Genesis of Cary Service

Great service. No issues with what was asked. Everything was taken care of. The problem is scheduling. From what I understand they are the only Genesis dealer on a large geographical area so it is extremely hard to schedule an appointment in a timely fashion. They are extremely busy.
