2013 Ford F-150 short term review
After going through a handful of vehicles (including a 2016 Ford F-150 that I loved but could not afford long-term), I recently purchased a 2013 Ford F-150 FX4, and I have been very happy with the truck overall. Some people will scoff at someone who owns a V6 truck but this is the real deal, even if it's not loud.
As a truck fan, I knew what I was getting into selecting a full-size V6 truck over a mid-size or a full-size V8, but for all of the flack the EcoBoost gets, it's the best performance engine Ford offers for F-150s and I think this truck overall is a solid choice for those people looking for a well-optioned truck on a budget.
The FX4 package gets everything body paint matched (which is good for me because I hate chrome) and adds many features, including some off-road improvements (skid plates, locking rear diff, etc.) and some tech that's available with the higher trims. However, I personally do not like the 20 inch wheel option that comes with this package, I would've preferred a smaller wheel (17" or 18").
My favorite part about the truck is the blend of utility, luxury, and performance; the SuperCrew has enough room to (very) comfortably seat a driver and four others, the bed is more than sufficient for the average truck owner, the technology included in this vehicle is comparable to many brand new vehicles, the fuel efficiency and performance of the engine is wonderful, and the off-road upgrades make this a useful and fun vehicle that you can feel confident taking almost anywhere.
