The Chrysler Crossfire - Built by Mercedes in Europe for Chrysler when they owned Chrysler is in fact 100% Mercedes, only the name Chrysler is Chrysler's!
Most people will tell you that the Crossfire (X-Fire) is a Chrysler with a Mercedes engine. The truth is that the Crossfire was built in the same building as the Mercedes two (2) seater sports car on a parallel assembly line. Mercedes built a new assembly line next to their old line and used it for their new 2 seaters. They left their older assembly line for the construction of the New "Chrysler" Crossfire. To verify my statements, check the Manufacturing tag just underneath the door lock on the driver's side. It will state: Made by DaimlerChrysler, with a smaller "Made in Germany" statement on the same tag. Daimler is Mercedes and at the time it was all under the Mercedes flag.
As to what i think of my Crossfire, i will sum it up by providing some "Incredible to many" information that most people don't know. The Chrysler Crossfire came with a ONE MILLION MILE DRIVETRAIN WARRANTY! That is for the engine, transmission, and rear end. That warranty is only good for the original owner & does not pass to subsequent buyers. If Chrysler & Mercedes trust the engine and transmission combo that much then my faith in the Crossfire also is way up there.
The owner of a private Mercedes Benz repair shop here in Houston Texas told me that yes, the 3.2 engine in the Crossfire can last one million miles, and that it was the ONLY Mercedes engine that could do it. He added that the first "SECRET" is to use ONLY 0-40 Mobile-One synthetic oil & to change it religiously every 3,000 miles. The 2nd part of that secret is in keeping the oil completely clean, and that is the reason for the 3,000-mile use limit. Because Moblie-One oil is almost indestructible, people (including Mercedes) push the oil change dates to extremes. They forget the rule: Keep the oil clean! The reason for using the 0-40 (Zero Forty) is that "Zero" in the specs of the oil. He explained that the 3.2 engine in the Chrysler Crossfire is made to such tight specs that there is almost Zero room between the piston & the cylinder wall of the engine. The ONLY thing that can get in there is the Zero spec oil. If the oil is dirty, the trash prevents oil from getting in between the piston & the cylinder wall and that is the end of the beautiful Mercedes engine.
By the way, when i took my 06 Crossfire to the mechanic for a leaking oil valve cover problem, he flipped out when he pulled the covers. The engine reflected the sun like a mirror & it checked out to 0.000 mm wear. He told me that he had NEVER seen a used car engine like this! All Crossfires have their quirks including mine, small, noisy (she's a convertible), etc, etc, but i like her. I say her because she is like some girls, small, nice body, cute ass!
