The car mechanic fear ...
The service that I went in was good. It is the first time that I wait for 2 hours for an oil change. I have been changing my oil here since 2012 and it should take less than 1 hour.
I was disappointing with the turn time. Staff was friendly as usual.

On a separate note I would give a 0 starts if possible for the suggested brake pads replacement. Seeing that the quote was super high I had a different mechanic change my brakes this week. But to my surprise when he went to change the brakes he said he recommends not changing them as they are at 50%. I have personally looked at the front and rear brake pads to confirm this and I was shocked to see the pads in great condition. What was unbelievably disappointing is to find out that the Hyundai Dealership that I have been servicing my car for 4 years now is less then honest with their assessment of my vehicle.
So now, do I believe them when they tell me that I need anything else done ? Should I think that they can modify something in my car when I do the oil change so that I have to "repair" the car?

I am questioning if I should ever use this dealership. Wouldn't you ???

Thank you for the feedback.

Reviewing your most recent service visit, we did recommend you be aware of the wear on the rear brake pads.  The inboard pad measured at 3.0mm which is just the edge of the recommended replacement interval.  At 103,000 miles, it seems fair to say you acheived great wear from those brakes.  As brake pads get thinner they are also less able to disappate heat.  Heat is the enemy of your brakes and on the rear brakes, which use an non-vented rotor, that heat can cause warping of the rotors.  We do recommend replacement of the rear brakes sooner rather than later to avoid the additional cost to replace rear rotors.  It does not take much warpage to make the rear brake rotors too thin to reuse after resurfacing.

We agree that your front brakes were at 50% as noted on the inspection sheet, but we will continue to recommend replacement of the rear brakes to prevent rotor warpage.  Again, over 100,000 miles is fantastic wear from your brakes and replacement now will help you defer the extra cost of having to replace the rotors later.

If you ever have any questions about your service, you are encouraged to ask us immediately.  We have always had an open shop, we are more than willing take you to your car, to show you what we are seeing, and to explain why we are recommending what we and particular service or repairs.

Your  5 years and 100,000+ miles of trouble-free driving, with no repairs except for a couple of light bulbs along the way, it seems fair to say that both you and the car have done well.  We've done our best to help guide you along the way and if you would like to go another 100,000 miles we're still here to help.

Dealership is great, service department needs some work.
Took my car in for a recall and some other issues. Upon servicing, they discovered my fender liner was missing, which of course wasn't under warranty. Less than 12 hours later, after driving my vehicle for less than 15 miles, my new fender liner was dragging on the road. I had to take my car back in the following morning to have them fix it. This is the 4th time I have had to bring my car back after a day or a few days after its been serviced due to the mechanics either messing up something else on my vehicle during a repair or not properly fixing the repair in the first place. On top of that, the service advisor acted like he was doing me a favor by not charging me a second time for the repair they messed up on in the first place.

Of course we never want to have a situation where you have to return immediately after service and certainly we wish tha this visit was a one and done for the fender liner.

Just a routine oil change on my 2017 Santa Fe, plus two minor warranty issues. Fixed it all in a couple of hours. Friendly service, very personable, and I will drive out of the way to this dealer even though there are two much closer!

Comfortable Waiting Area
Earnhardt Hyundai has spent time and energy, successfully making the waiting room area VERY nice, providing different TVs to watch.....The Price Is Right gets old after a while.....endless snacks and coffee, comfortable chairs, etc. My service adviser, Ben Girard, is a super nice guy, professional, upbeat, courteous.....clone that guy!!!
