Great styling, roomy interior with lots of features, awesome gas mileage.
With the new styling, the 2018 GMC Terrain steps it up more than a notch. The exterior is all new sheet metal, bringing the Terrain styling that is fresh but still rugged. Gone is the boxy look of the previous gen. "C" shaped headlights and taillights help it stand out from the crowd of generic SUV's that have flooded the market recently. The interior is all new too. Comfortable seats that support you in all the right places. Headroom that is roomy, even for me at 6'4". The quirky transmission buttons in the dash take a little getting used to, but are easy to use. Getting in and out is not a problem either, even for tall people. The door frame is angled slightly, giving plenty of room so you don't have to duck your head. Ride is very comfortable, though there's only so much that 18" wheels can do with large potholes. Still, the Terrain handles even that confidently. Driving on curvy roads can be great fun, as the Terrain takes most corners flat and smooth. Cargo space is more than adequate for most family needs. The rear seats fold much easier than most, with a simple lever located in the top of the seat beside the headrest. Super easy to reach without having to stand on your head, and one lever makes it so effortless to fold the seats flat. This extends the cargo space to 63 cubic feet. With the rear seats in place, you still have almost 30 cu. ft. of space for cargo. More than enough for your next trip to Costco. The 1.5 liter gas engine can seem strained at times, but with 9 gears the Terrain always seems to find the right one. Working together, they give you awesome gas mileage. I've been averaging around 25 mpg with mostly city driving. I would probably opt for the 2.0 liter if you plan to often haul the whole family or a lot of cargo. GMC tends to be more expensive than its Buick and Chevy stablemates. But parts and build quality are made to a higher standard than the other 2. So, you get what you pay for, down the road. To sum it up. Great vehicle, up to date styling, nice ride, plenty of space for occupants and cargo, awesome MPGs.
