Quirky electrical issues
I love my roadster, Marta! But just spent #1,300 on diagnostics for issues related to "body control modules". Feeling lucky that after much research on BMW forums and with help from a great original dealer in SC, my 2005 actually has less on again, off again issues, than other Z4 years.
Imagine turn signal light not showing up on dashboard means, honey, the top is not going down! Then, magically, a week or days later, turn signals light up and DANG! the top goes down! Alrighty then!
That was one module out of over 25 that had to be tested. My favorite one, also hit and miss, was when the passenger side door lock ? button wouldn't work; trunk and GAS CAP DOOR wouldn't open either! Get familiar with using a key at trunk and finding the green emergency gas cap pull cord.
Wouldn't sell her for anything-been waiting for her to be affordable for over 15 years! She is all fixed, growls like a cougar and flies like a jet!
