Well, I decided to go for the ceramic brake pad service and bingo! No more grinding noise. Z Tech did an excellent job. Plus, Ken showed me the parts replaced and the additional services they performed on the rear brakes just to keep 'er quiet when braking.
Overall customer service was an A+ in my book. Everything was done while I waited in their waiting area -- which gave me time to observe other customers who dealt with Warren, a very helpful Z Tech representative (and likely other credentials).
