I waited five weeks for an appointment to have my classic car serviced. The car is in excellent condition, and I provided a specific list of items I wanted inspected and repaired.
When I arrived for my appointment, I was surprised to learn that I wasn't on their schedule. Fortunately, I had the text message from the shop confirming my appointment, which I showed to the service representative. They then accepted the car and kept it for several days.
The OEM parts that were replaced appear to have been installed properly, and I have no complaint with that portion of the work.
However, a significant noise coming from underneath the car was specifically on my list of concerns and was apparently overlooked. When I brought this up at checkout, I was told they had not worked on that issue. They then quickly took the car back into the shop, returned it without performing a road test, and told me they couldn't find anything wrong.
I left with the same loud noise unresolved after paying approximately $1,000 for the service.
When I contacted the shop afterward, I was told they had been too busy to complete all of the items on my list. They apologized but explained that they were booked through the end of the year and are now concentrating on late-model vehicles approximately three to five years old.
I understand that a busy shop may need to limit the vehicles it services. My disappointment is that I waited five weeks for a confirmed appointment, left my classic car with them for several days, and paid approximately $1,000, only to learn afterward that they were too busy to address all of the concerns I had specifically asked them to investigate.
For an owner of a classic or older vehicle, that is important information to know before scheduling an appointment and waiting several weeks for service. You might get ghosted receiving only a text message :)
