Shopped used car inventory
Came to look at a vehicle that was listed in Auto Trader. Met with a sales rep (Ari Scoggan). He was very professional and answered all my questions. We arrived at a price that was both competitive and fair. Ari walked us through financing and was there to answer any questions. Upon completion, Ari had moved our vehicle inside and did a through outside wipe down. He even put a bow on the car and took pictures. The next day he called us to be sure that all went well and to answer any questions we had.
If you are looking to buy, I highly recommend this dealership who I found to be a no pressure type of car buying experience. A+

Great Customer Service
We bought a used Chevy Traverse back in November. We noticed an issue with the acceleration when we’re driving the car home. We immediately let the dealership know since we didn’t notice the issue during the test drive. One of the sales reps, Eric, ended up taking care of the issue for us. Super grateful for him and his amazing customer service!

This whole dealership sucks
DO NOT buy a car from here!!!! Bought a brand new 2023 Hyundai Santa FE from here last year and paid in full! Already brought the car back up 5 times to get serviced. They told us the first 4 times they couldn’t find the issue. The last time finally said they found the issue and fixed it. Get the car back and it’s still having the same issues. Finally took our car to a REAL mechanic and he said our transmission is failing along with a long list of other things and he believes Hyundai is covering the issues up. This is a brief review because we have a long list of other issues with them like rude employees (Whitney) with zero professionalism. It’s time to involve our lawyer because we’ve had enough of them and this car. Will never support Ray Skillman or Hyundai and this point.

2015 Hyundai elantra sport
After receiving numerous letters from Drew Levy wanting to purchase my daughter 2015 Hyundai elantra sport offering $2000 over KBB. They offered her $800 for it. But the kicker is, they have a 2015 Hyundai elantra se,not the sport,with 20,000 miles less then hers,they what $15,995 for it.

We had to get another car.
My son and I had to get another car due to an accident and ours being totaled out. We stopped by this dealer and Noah greeted us right away. Told him the situation with us and he was GREAT! Helped us and worked hard. He is the nices car salesmen I have ever met, and I had many years at this. Between Noah and Garrison there they made buying a car pleasent. Would go back to them next time we need a car. If you are car shopping, check them out. It's worth it.

Very bad service. The seller is too arrogant and does not give options. I really badly. I don't understand how they have a good rating if they are really arrogant and racist

loose oil drain plug, trashed engine, no follow up from dealership
I have been reluctant to write this review as I had hoped that someone from the dealership would have contacted me. Approximately 1 month ago we took our Tucson in for an oil change in anticipation of a trip to Louisiana. All was fine for the week leading up to the trip. Left on Friday evening. Got just south of Louisville late in the evening, car started smoking, overheating and engine shut off. coasted as far as we could and then called a tow truck to have it taken to a truck stop close. Luckily had friends in Louisville that were able to get us and allow us to stay at their house overnight. Next day had the vehicle towed to a dealership south of Louisville. Dealership found the drain plug for the oil pan laying on a frame member under the car. Dealership said it looked like it had not been torqued properly as the washer was not deformed. Lucky for us Hyundai has a recall on these engines for another issue as this engine was trashed and had to be replaced. Dealership was able to warranty the repair and replace it with a new engine they had there. Now here is where it gets interesting. I called Ray Skillman to talk to the serice manager. Explained the situation and told him they got lucky as it was all going to be covered under warranty and they would have no cost for the engine, although they were absolutely at fault. I then asked if they would be able to cover some of the miscellaneous costs, such as the first towing, and a few other incidental expenses, maybe 200$ total. What did the service manager do, tells me he isn't just going to start paying things that they shouldn't have to. He would have to verify all of those items and then he would see. Did he apologize, nope. Did he ask if everyone was OK, nope. Did he offer one word of encourgement or tell us how sorry he was, or tell us he would look into it and get back to us. Did he offer to call the dealership where it was being repaired and check to make sure everything was going OK with the repair. So not only was our trip cancelled. But we had to get another car and drive back to Indy and then back to Louisville on Monday to pick it up. Now I will say the dealership where we were, took care of the towing the second time, got us a loaner car to drive back to Indy, and even covered our incidental expenses, because they had called Ray Skillman and said they were being uncooperative in covering any small items and they would do it for us because it was the right thing to do. Now, Swope Hyndai of Elizabethtown is a dealer that knows how to take care of its customers. Knowing we were from Indy and are unlikely to come back and do business with them,, they went out of their way. Ray Skillman who I have bought multiple cars from treats us like a piece of dirt on their shoes. Not one follow up from the service manager, the general manager, any one in upper management at Ray Skillman. Nothing, now I understand that mistakes are a fact of life, it is response to error that counts. And their response to error was shameful. The dealership should have been elated that they would not have to pay for a new engine. Towing from Louisville etc, but what did they choose to do instead, ignore, point fingers, not follow up, absolutely nothing. So what will I do, not be going back to Ray Skillman. Tell anyone that asks what happened and now they should not be going to Ray Skillman for service or to purchase a car. I see where there focus is, sell the car and then out the door. We care as long as we see your tail lights. I need to stop as I am getting angrier as I type this. Take a car to Ray Skillman, no way, buy a car from Ray Skillman no way.

Excellent experience
Once stepped on lot was greeted and explained what we were looking for and price range, was shown several vehicles that would work. Never pressured to spend more. We ended up with an excellent vehicle for our needs. Michael the salesperson was excellent to work with.

But, I know we have not been scheduled out for 2 months for an oil change. We had been running, until Spring Break hit, about 2-3 business days behind on oil change appointments. Best of the best.
Having bought the car at Ray Skillman, of course I would bring it back for service. However, the great service and great attitude of the staff is why I will continue to use Skillman. Not only were the service staff excellent, my original salesman sat and spoke with me for several minutes in the lounge while I waited on my car. I love this dealership and highly recommend you buy and service your vehicle with Skillman Hyundai in Avon, Indiana.
