They advertised a Hyundai Ioniq 6 for $41k, so I went in to see it. Drove an hour. The sales woman said it wasn't that price, it was more, and the Internet gets it wrong all the time. We negotiated back and forth, and to make a long story short we settled on a price of $35k, which they put in writing. AS I AM DRIVING HOME to send the deposit, the sales manager (Zack) called and said they made a math error, and it would be $10k more. He said for my trouble "the best he could do" was take another $1k off. So he wanted me to pay $44k for a car they had already advertised for $41k.
Side note, they initially had an extended warranty, GPS locator, VIP maintenance, and doc prep fees on the contract, for an add-on of close to 3 grand, all in violation of state law. They did quickly remove them when I complained.
Fast forward to today, I received an email from Phil Long Hyundai saying that the car I looked at was being discounted to $34k. I called the salesperson and asked if that was real or fake, and she said it was real and Hyundai sometimes did promos to move cars. I told her I would take it for that price, and I'd send her the deposit.
Several texts later and no answer, I called Zack and he said that the price was a "misprint" and they were trying to get it taken down. Really sorry but the "best he could do" was going to be $44k. Not exactly a discount. The sales woman texted back a completely different story about financing v cash price, etc... total nonsense.
Finally, a manager (Luis) called and said they made a mistake, but there's nothing they can do because in the fine print on a link to a link there's a disclaimer.
So buyer beware. Whether it's dishonesty or just plain incompetence, I'd take my business elsewhere...
