I had previously received three outside estimates to replace the liftgate, with the highest being $3,760. However, I fell for their talk about OEM parts and other nonsense, assuming their price would only be slightly higher. I was wrong. They eventually called with a quote of $13,000 to fix a liftgate with just a couple of dents on the body and door. At that point, you're stuck: you either leave the car and fight the insurance company to pay, or take the car and lose $3,500.
