Dishonest, Incompetent...or both?
I purchased a used vehicle (mid-sized SUV) from Fuccillo Hyundai in the late spring of 2021. The sales process was alright; the price of the vehicle and customer service were ok, not great. The warranty was only 30 days since the vehicle has some miles on it already, and within a couple days after purchase I identified a knocking sound in the suspension when going over rougher pavement than the roads around the test drive area, and a significant sway/wobble in the rear end when driving at highway speed. I scheduled an appointment with Fuccillo's service department and described the situation. After the appt, they stated that they were unable to replicate either the noise or the wobbling motion.
After that appt, two independent mechanics and several other passengers were easily able to hear and feel the knocking sound and rear end wobble. When I called Fuccillo back and spoke to the service dept. manager, he stated that the general manager, Russell, had stated that they weren't going to put any more money into fixing the vehicle, beyond the maintenance done prior to re-selling, and it was now after the 30 day warranty period ended. He assured me that it would be a cheap fix (just a bushing replacement), which ended up to be a $900 fix (not just a bushing replacement). Calls to the General Manager, Russell, to discuss this issue were not returned, so I can only assume that they knew the car had this issue and didn't want to take responsibility to fix it.
Experiences like this are what make people distrust car dealerships. I suggest you proceed with caution (or look elsewhere if possible) if you are looking to purchase a vehicle from Fuccillo Hyundai of Grand Island.
