I took my truck to Driver's Edge on 07/24/19 for state inspection. I was told that my truck failed inspection due to a leak in the evaporative system. I dropped the truck off again the following day, 07/25/2019, to have the problem corrected and to have my truck pass inspection. I paid $299.85 for leak detection pump, evap purge valve, and misc seal. Note the code for the problem was P0456.
On 08/10/2019 I had to take the truck in again because I was having trouble getting it to start up. I was told that my fuel pump was going out, even though I had replaced the fuel pump 4 months prior. I finally agreed to have it replaced for the sake of getting everything settled. I was able to pick my truck up on 08/13/2019.
08/18/2019: I started my truck and behold, the check engine light came on again. I chose to take it to a reputable company this time. At firestone, they checked the codes and one of the codes shot back was P0456, the same issue that I paid to have fixed on 07/25/2019.
I requested a refund from Driver's Edge so that I can have the issue fixed by someone I trust instead of being forced to go there time and time again for the same problems that they are contributing to. I called Drivers Edge and tried to discuss the issue with the manager. I felt that I was on the verge of losing my temper, so I chose to let my wife finish the conversation. Apparently, he did not appreciate my wife calling him out on his company's absolute lack of professionalism, and he hung up on my wife.
I have since reported them to the BBB and have yet to hear back from them.
As of 10/15/2019, after taking my truck to a trustworthy shop, i learned that when Drivers Edge was supposed to fix my truck, they simply superglued a couple of pieces together and the seal quickly broke loose. Now due to the damage they caused, I am going to have to purchase an entirely new fuel tank.
