I had to pick up my car in pieces and will be having it completed somewhere else. Here is what $5050 and 18 months bought at Bill’s Datsun:
$1900 to overhaul and rebuild the brakes. $1000 to remove the motor, clean and disassemble and detail.
$666.03 in clutch parts to which can be purchased together as a set online for $408. $425 in labor to polish the crank, hone the cylinders and mic and knurl the pistons. $400 for the new pistons.
And a small box of new seals and bearings to make up the remainder, most parts appear to be marked up 30%.
I have a block and 8 boxes of parts. All the rebuilding effort has been done to the bottom of the engine. I still need to do everything to the top. In my experience I would be very cautious about using this shop for anything more than maintenance. Jock has had numerous health issues that interfered with completing this project. Based on my experience, I’m afraid large projects are beyond the scope of service they are able to reliably deliver at this time.
