New, fully balanced tires installed at Discount Tire, followed by an alignment at Stability and a 200
mile road trip. Car had a high amplitude vibration, as before, did not track well, and felt "nervous." Took the car back to Discount Tire and requested a balance check. Balance was correct. Took the car back to Stability and requested an alignment check. Alignment was correct. Long story short, the problem was deduced to be excessive tire pressure which I have always set at 3 psi above the factory recommendation. Due to many factors I will not try to recall nor relate, these tires when new, should apparently be "broken in" at a pressure well below the factory recommendation. So, instead of running my normal 36 psi, I am now running these tires at 30 psi. Problem solved.
However, once I have a few thousand miles on these new tires, I will try re-setting the pressure at the factory recommendation. Final resolution, TBD.
