Elantra GT (Hatchback)

This little vehicle has many little options for the mom on a budget. It seats five with extra room for groceries in back. Although one has to be very careful with road bumps, highway debris, rocky roads, and potholes. West Texas is not kind to small cars. The front grill is low and can get caught when parking behind a curb or when leaving any parking area & going out on to a street (ditch crossing). One has to constantly watch the condition of the road being driven. I thought my engine dropped out once on a well paved street (43rd).

My first Hyundai

Traded for a new 2020 Hyundai Kona Turbo 1.6L in Dec. of 2019 due to a need for better acceleration in dealing with congested traffic in Ocala, Fl. Need better acceleration to merge into traffic and to change lanes on State Road 200 my primary traffic route. Very satisfied with the Kona. May well be the best car of the 44 I have ever owned.

Unexpected high quality and performance

In my quest to find the perfect car, I wanted all the bells and whistles including great performance, good looking, upscale entertainment system, safety features, etc. At the time I thought the VW GTI offered the best compromise of price, performance and features that I was looking for. I just wanted to check a few other cars before committing I went to a Honda dealership to check out their cars. The Hyundai dealership was next door. I had never seen an Elantra GT until I walked through that Hyundai dealership. I like the looks of the Elantra FT so went for a drive. I really liked the car but didn't know anything about it. So I went home researched via the internet. I discovered all the features and performance. I also learned that the one I had driven was the only Hyundai Elantra GT Sport with the 1.6 turbo, DCT and safety features left in the SF bay area. It checked all my boxes and appeared to offer everything the VW GTI offered for far less money. It's now been 20k miles later and I still love this car.

Fantastic car for us.

We bought this car after leasing one prior. Almost three years have passed without a regret. Multiple road trips averaging over 36+ mpg. Plenty of power and a great sound system. No complaints here. Take the family or yourself for a drive just for fun.

Everything is amazing besides the paint job

I have had no problems with the car at all performance-wise. But I have had a lot of issues with the paint chipping and starting to look like s***. No other complaints besides the paint job and the clear coat

Great vehicle

This was the first new vehicle I have ever purchased and I have had nothing but a great quality experience! My particular vehicle was one of the show room vehicles and I went to the dealership knowing I wanted an electric blue vehicle, so it was perfect! Gas mileage is fantastic on the highway and in the city. I have driven from Colorado to Ohio and back over 5 times and haven’t had any issues with suspension, mileage, engine, tires, brakes or any of the major components. Hyundai has my full confidence for when I upgrade to my next vehicle!

62k Odometer: Won’t See 100k

Purchased new in August 2018. What happened to that car? Consistent declines in all arenas when it comes to this car. The engine noise gets worse every day despite not missing any services or maintenance at the dealership. Transmission is very rough, 3rd gear is almost skipped, giving you unnecessary focus to manage during speed changes and stop and stops. Initial symptoms suggested suspension was failing however dealership does not locate it. Replaced steering shaft assembly but still constant adjustment to keep car straight and maintain forward in lane.

You get what you paid for.

In general it's OK car. But random power loss during acceleration is not acceptable. Problem with the starter in a 2 years old car, which dealer can not fix is a nonsense. Car does not have its own GPS, but it is OK. The need to connect my phone to infosistem with USB wire is not OK. Bluetooth?

Love car except tires

Love car except tire road noise the dealer tried balancing the tire when i first got the car.ive read reviews on these tires big complaint was to much road noise.When my lady friend drives the car she loves it execept for the road noise!!

2018 Elantra GT could be better

The 2018 Elantra GT is a pretty good car. The one I got had pretty near all the features I wanted except for three important features that should be on every new car. The first feature it should have is LED headlamps, mines had LED Daytime Running Lamps but halogen headlights. Second feature should be light auto dimming rear view mirror. Third should be Homelink programmable security gate/ garage door opener. The car itself is ok, acceleration is very good. But the thing I most don’t like about the car is steering, there’s a lag when you turn the car that should not be there. It’s not as good as a Mazda in steering to wheel contact and movement. You have constantly adjust when driving to stay straight and in turns. Good thing I leased this car. I will be heading back to Mazda When this lease is over. I used to shuttle cars for Hertz Rental at the airport and drove Kias to Porsches and many brands in between, I know what I’m talking about, this car would be good for a young family because of the warranty and pricing but not someone who’s been driving for 50 years, me.

Elantra GT

Excellent vehicle. Good on gas mileage. Very nimble on driving and parking lots. Excellent value for the dollar. Considered buying other cars. Test drove the GT and found it very nice handling and comfortable seating. Overall an excellent handling vehicle and reliable car for the money.

2018 Hyundai Elantra GT Sport DCT

Not exactly sure why I'm taking time to type this review as Hyundai has decided to stop selling this model in the US after 2021.But for what its worth it's been a great car so far and would highly recommend. Fuel economy better than expected as long as the turbo isn't spooling. Have gotten 38+ MPG on the freeway at 75 MPH. Not in the same power league as the 2.0L GTI. Comes with an open differential and all season tires. But it has enough HP/Torque to make for an interesting drive. Overall would buy again.

2018 Elantra gt

This car was purchased for my college bound daughter. It is so fun to drive and is good on gas mileage. It is very responsive and surprisingly comfortable.The hatchback comes in handy and there is quite a bit of storage room with the back seats down. And, the 10 year warranty gives you piece of mind.I am a very satisfied purchaser. Thanks Hyundai for building such a great and affordable vehicle!

Better value to me than a GTI

The Base model Elantra GT is a good car with crisp handling, a responsive engine, excellent room for a 95th percentile human, good fuel economy (for me) and some less than perfect attributes. For a vehicle of it’s cost perfection cannot be had, but less wind noise at highway speed would be nice. The trend to larger diameter wheels and lower profile tires does cause a harsher driving experience over less than perfect roads.

2018 Hyundai Elantra GT manual...… fun to drive, responsive, safe, beautiful, quiet engine. I purchased the base model but with all of the bells and whistles, you really don't need more. Did I say fun to drive???

Review for 2018 Elantra GT Sport

Great performance of the turbo engine, DCT, and brakes. Most bang for the buck vs similar. Wish handling was more planted though. Will need to upgrade that with aftermarket hardware. Wish rear passenger AC vents blew harder.

Excellent car for the money, peppy yet great fuel economy

Great value It’s an inexpensive car that performs exceptionally well for the price. Fun/easy to drive with a nice little turbo when you need the extra acceleration. Not a status car, but has many of the features one finds in more expensive cars
