Your vehicle originally came to us with multiple concerns, including an inoperative fuel gauge. During our diagnostic process, our testing indicated an internal fault within the instrument cluster. No repairs were performed to the instrument cluster itself, and it was never removed or disassembled during your visit.
When you returned the following morning regarding the speedometer concern, we explained that since no repairs or disassembly had been performed in that area, it was highly likely the speedometer issue was related to the same internal instrument cluster fault we had already documented during our initial diagnosis. Modern instrument clusters commonly control multiple gauge functions internally, including both the fuel gauge and speedometer.
We understand this situation was frustrating, and we offered to take another look at the vehicle. After you left, both Ken the El Cajon Location Manager and our Operations Manager, Pablo, attempted to reach out by phone and left voicemail messages to continue assisting you, but unfortunately we did not receive a return call.
Based on the information provided, it appears the other shop likely repaired or replaced the instrument cluster, which would explain why both concerns were corrected together. We always strive to diagnose vehicles accurately and communicate our findings honestly and professionally.
When I brought the van back the next day I was told that they didn't do anything that would cause the speedometer to stop working. One of the reasons I brought the van in was because the fuel gauge isnt working. I know that the fuel gauge is next to the speedometer and the print out states" additional pinpoint testing indicates likely internal fault within the instrument cluster."
The next day I had to spend $250 at another vendor to repair the speedometer.
