Unfair markup and poor transparency
There was little transparency in the paperwork process unless you knew what to ask for. We were told the car was priced at msrp on first communication and once we sat down were surprised to see the price was increased to $5,000 above msrp once the trade-in was offered. Trade-in price was fair, but felt like a bait and switch once the new car price was hiked up. On further investigation, other buyers of the same model car paid no more than $2,000 above msrp. The money factor was also increased at the very end of the negotiating process without explanation and was not pointed out before signing. All in all extremely poor communication and sketchy business practices from the dealership, although they are nice to your face while doing it.
Upon submission of the poor survey results, we were contacted by Vision Motor Company General Manager who offered us a discount on a future Vision purchase or lease, on the condition that we change our review to give them all 5 stars. We turned this down as it does nothing to change what we disliked about the experience of dealing with Vision Hyundai, and gives us no comfort to expect a discount on a future car when all we have experienced is that they will fudge the numbers to erase any “deal” they are offering. He was not willing to give store credit to mitigate our dissatisfaction and would not elevate to Hyundai corporate.
Would have given an even lower score after the discussion with the GM as it is clear all they are interested in is suppressing bad reviews. We won’t be returning to another Vision franchise for our next car. This also harms the Hyundai brand to allow their dealerships to continue these poor practices.
