I bought a van at Ultimate Auto in Temple Hills, Maryland on December 28, 2020. It has a gaping hole where the stereo should be, and two service lights illuminated. I have a signed document that states Ultimate Auto will replace the stereo and check the lights. I was told I had an appointment this morning, January 4, 2021 at 11:00 AM to get those things done.
First of all, they have zero customer parking. Second of all, they do not give directions on where to go for your service appointments.
I arrive late at about 11:40 because I had forgotten my mask and then I had to wait 20 minutes for the Key Bridge to open again so I could turn around to go get my mask.
Like I said, no parking is available, so I park in a spot at the dealership next door. As soon as I get out of my van I am confronted by an employee of that dealership and told I have to move my van (even though I went into that building the previous week so Ultimate Auto could run my credit card for the payment on the van). I moved my van over to in front of Ultimate Auto in the only little spot I could squeeze in a group of their vehicles. As soon as I get out of my vehicle to quickly walk inside to inquire about where I should take my vehicle for the scheduled service appointment I am told by a young, maskless, blonde woman that I had to move my van. She didn’t greet me with a “How are you doing? Can I help you?” Nope, just an order to move my van. I tried to explain that I just bought the van, and I had an appointment, nope, move the van. My frustration level peaked, and I replied, “You know what, lady? Kiss my ass.” I got back into my van.
This maskless Ultimate Auto employee then approached my vehicle and began screaming at me and spewing visible particles of her saliva at me and my vehicle. She threatened to call the police on me (why? For telling her to kiss my ass, I suppose.)
I left the lot and parked down the street and attempted to call. Each time I was put through to a voice mailbox that was full like it was a joke. Then I was told the person in charge “is in the service department and there is no line over there.” This was a joke to them. Once I drove the return HOUR drive home I tried to contact Ultimate Auto again and was put on hold for 15 minutes. My wife called and got through to someone in management who then told her that his employee said I did not have a mask on and spit on her. (LIES!) Then he tells her that he does not have the stereo on hand and has to order it even though I was scheduled for an appointment to install it that morning.
I then emailed Ultimate Auto with three options (because I REFUSE to drive back to their location ever again, not after being treated that way):
1) Ultimate Auto can pay for a local Dundalk shop to install the stereo and check the lights
2) Ultimate Auto can send someone to Dundalk to install my stereo and check the lights
3) Ultimate Auto can send me a check for $2500 and I will purchase the stereo and have it installed and have the lights checked.
Ultimate Auto refused and then tried to threaten me with police action over my actions. I did nothing. Their employee endangered my health and got aggressive with me over nothing. They said they have video of the incident, but they will not send it to me.
I reported Ultimate Auto to the Maryland Health Department for their employee not abiding by the State’s COVID regulations and endangering my health. I also reported them to the BBB.
In all of this I also received a threatening phone call at 10:27 PM on a phone number that I had just gotten and had only given out to Ultimate Auto in dealing with them. One of their employees, or actually probably the owner himself (after speaking to him the following day on the phone), called me to threaten my safety at home over this. I filed a police report against them and now I will be suing them in court.
If you want this trouble then buy from them.
