I was helping my daughter buy a Toyota Corolla and made her call some 15 agencies in our area. After she called asking for the OTD (Out the Door) price, we visited a dealer in Rockwall, one in Prosper and this one in Dallas. The people who talked to her didn't say the price at first and ended up saying they beat any price in the area, otherwise they will pay you $500. Their intent is to attract you to the agency and try selling you a car with a mark up (aka "market adjustment") of some $5,000. When we started to negotiate, they said they could not beat the other dealer's car because the other dealer didn't have the car right away and there was no VIN # on our quote. During the talk to the sales person, her manager arrived to push us on buying the car, then there was another guy that was following us all the way to my car when I was leaving and pushing us to close the deal too, his price came down from $31,000 to $26,000 and there he started asking us to meet somewhere in the middle at around $25,000, but, at that point, I couldn't trust them anymore and he was also pretty rude to us. Needless to say, they didn't honor the $500 compensation and I will never get back there again.
