I brought my Ram Promaster in expecting to drop a ton of cash on an auxiliary transmission cooler and gauge to keep temps in check while towing this summer. Larry took the time to thoroughly inspect the van, then surprised the hell out of me by saying the factory cooler was actually pretty damn impressive in size and that I probably didn’t need to throw money at another one right away.
Instead, he recommended starting with just installing a transmission temperature gauge so I could actually monitor the temps under real towing conditions. He suggested that if the temps still ran hot after testing, the next smart (and much cheaper) step would be flashing the ECM and adjusting the cooling fan speeds before jumping straight to an auxiliary cooler.
Larry was knowledgeable, straightforward, and genuinely looking out for my wallet instead of trying to upsell me on unnecessary work. In a world full of shops that love to drain your bank account, it’s refreshing as hell to find someone this honest and experienced.
