I personally inspected the vehicle and unfortunately there was no unusual sound coming from the engine compartment. After you picked up your vehicle and returned with it I was surprised at the sound it made. I have never had a water pump make a noise and go away and then the noise returns. I believe if you are honest with yourself you will admit the noise wasn't there when you picked up the vehicle the first time As for the ball park quote had you given us the oportunity to research part price and labor instead of insisting a immediate quote, we would have given you the exact cost, and of course we only use quality parts. Sorry we failed to meet your expectations
When your vehicle was in for the noise that you diagnosed as a waterpump there was no noise. There are several components in front of the engine that can make the sound of a failed water pump, alternaror, belt tensioner ect. We are not here to just change parts, we are here to repair the problem. the vehicle was inspected several times but the sound in the engine compartment was normal. You picked up the vehicle and at that time the nosie was not there. It was after you left we the vehicle that the noise you originally heard returned at that time you returned with the vehicle. As for the quote, had you not been so much in a hurry we would have been able to give you a exact quote. By the way we don't use parts that aren't compatible with original equipment parts. Sorry we were honest enough to say unless we hear the noise we are not just going to replace a part because you said so.

You were informed that we had several vehicles ahead of you and that it would be several days before we could get to it. When the vehicle came into the shop the water pump was not making noise. I looked at the vehicle with the tech and it was quiet. Now I have to admit in all my years of experience I have never seen a wate pump make noise and then no noise. There are several components that surround that pump that can fail and sound like a failed water pump. Before we perform any repairs we want to be sure we are replacing the failed part. You picked up the vehicle and as you stated there was no noise. After you left and put a few miles on your truck the noise you heard returned and yes it was the water pump. As for the quote you requested it without giving Keith the opportunity to do a proper estimate. Unfortunatley we too have a problem keeping up with the rising cost. We apologize for being concerned that we repair your vehicle with the proper diagnoses and not just replace a part and take your money, not knowing if we took care of your concern

Okay ball park what will it cost? 500-600 brink it back Wednesday finally gotta it 6 days later cost 805.. just water pump and antifreeze. My truck 99 dodge dakota nothing fancy.
