Don’t waste your time!
After weeks of back and forth, we finally agreed on terms for a used vehicle and left with the car. Unfortunately, the issues didn’t end there. We were repeatedly harassed with texts and calls because they “forgot” to collect funds.

I’m genuinely baffled as to how Brian Thompson became a sales manager. His behavior was incredibly unprofessional, especially when he said, “I knew you people would not pay,” which came across as a clear prejudice remark.

I’ve never encountered a dealership or a manager that made the car buying process so unpleasant, both during and after the purchase. This experience was an absolute nightmare. Take your business elsewhere!

Finally... Warranty
UPDATE ON PREVIOUS REVIEW

After 6 months of phone calls, emails and avoidance from this dealer we finally got the paperwork for our warranty on our certified Hyundai Palisade. We had to contact Hyundai and the dealer wouldn't cooperate with them either, so as a last resort and 5.5 months into this fight we contacted channel 5. They were more than happy to help us figure out what the issue was, 4 days after contacting the media we received an email from the dealer stating we would be recieving a package over night via Fed Ex. Well the paperwork finally arrived. But should we really have to fight this long for something we paid for? Sr's is this how you deserve to be treated?? Take it from this Sr Citizen,
Do yourself a favor and avoid this dealer.

Driven all the way from Frisco to Granbury to make a purchase after all enquiry over phone but made a fool out of myself
Wish google allows negative starring because i believe even single star cannot express what customer actually went through. On 23rd of Mar 2024, I drove all the way from Frisco to their place (around 2 hour drive one way) and i did call them (Mark) and enquire about the availability of Hyundai palisade 2023 i was looking for which they listed in their website and confirmed rest of all details as well. I was promised by them (Mark) that we will know how serious you are in buying this vehicle if you come down and sit with us for rest of discussion and he also promised to reasonable pricing after negotiations. Price of the car listed online was 45,500 and i was told the same price over phone, so after taxes and other small fees i thought it would be around 49K and planned to negotiate and close it as less as i could. But when i went their they(as Mark was busy he asked Ron to deal with us) gave me price 54k which included CPO+LOJACK+something else. I asked him(Ron) a simple question why these add on's cost is not listed in your website where the car was listed, the answer shocked me, he(Ron) said "HYUNDAI DOESNT ALLOW THEM TO DO SO". Just bullshit. Does that even make sense. After asking multiple times and making drama by roaming here and there he(Ron) finally removed 2 of those extra add on's and quoted final price as 49.5K, on which i tried to negotiate and he said not even a penny can be taken off. Waste of my time, Waste of effort, Waste of full tank gas, utter waste of my day. It was clear that they bought the car with those add on's and they cant take them off. So they kept arguing with me saying we are removing those add on's which they not listed in their website and didnt tell me over phone. The only reason i could think of why they did not post with those add on's and update the price on their website is, they knew it wont be sold with such high price and they could lure the customer by quoting less price and if customer visits their place they can fool them or customer would compromise or get tempted and buy it. But the fact is, customer gets disappointed by such act and will not make a purchase even if you are selling it for lesser price than what he/she assumed. Transparency and Honesty builds the Trust and it cannot be built over night but can be broken with one such instance. Whoever reads this review, do call and ask them all the details and ASK FOR SURE IF THERE ARE ANY ADD ON'S. Trust me, you dont like yourself when you were fooled.

Classic Bait and Switch
I drove almost 50 miles for a preowned vehicle they said they had in their inventory. When we got there, we were told the vehicle was not on the lot and not available and were shown a new vehicle instead. Half of our day was wasted and I was left with a sour taste in my mouth. The salesman seemed nice enough, but the fact that he let us drive all the way out there without being completely transparent came off as deceptive.

Trapped and harassed
Those that are giving great reviews, obviously didn’t deal with a certain sales manager (Eddie) and sales manager ( don’t recall). A family member of mine went in very excited to buy their first car and came out in tears. The general manager got involved and gave them a very good deal on the car, however never wanted to step food at that place again. I gave Eddie a call and left a non treating message to please call me so I could get his side of the story. I waited a week before giving this review hoping I could get closer between us. He never called me. My family member had a terrible experience to the point that they felt trapped (they wouldn’t let them leave/they were on the phone-he asked who they were talking to/there were four people in a room harassing them/they followed them out to the parking lot/ask them why their eyes were red, etc.
First place, that was taken way to far. Second, if you must go there, stay far away from him.

MISLEADING PRICING! ADD $2,000 TO ANY VECHILE LISTED PRICE!!
A warning to anyone shopping at Shottenkirk. Add $2,000 to any vehicle's listed price online or in person. The prices are MISLEADING. The dealership adds a MANDATORY warranty package to each purchase (i.e. Total Care Package). They dress it up as an "Addendum" and tell you it's "Required and Discriminatory" if they don't sell it to you. They also will claim it’s not a warranty, but don't believe them, IT IS TRULY A ONE-YEAR WARRANTY PACKAGE that covers replacement tires (up to $1K), dents and window crack repairs. That's fine if you want to purchase the warranty package, but it SHOULD NOT BE A REQUIREMENT. A warranty is an OPTIONAL add-on and those that don't want it should not be forced to purchase it. It's MISLEADING to consumers that see a listed price online only to find out at time of purchase they add an additional $2,000 to the sales price of the vehicle. I would have NOT SHOPPED THERE had I known Shottenkirk would add an additional $2,000 to the listed price of the vehicle. THEREFORE, I WOULD RECOMMEND GOING SOMEHWERE ELSE THAT' HAS MORE TRANSPARENT PRICING AND DOES NOT USE MISLEADING PRICING PRACTICES TO LURE CUSTOMERS.

A follow up to this review. My wife and I financed a new vehicle with Classic Chevrolet in Grapevine. They were amazing and the process was easy and quick. No sale pressure from A-Hole sales managers. We contacted dealership and informed them what we wanted and what we could afford. Simply put, Classic Chevrolet was the BOMB...

The following is my response to the owner who wrote back to my initial review.

What a cookie cutter response. Reach out to a manager, really? A manager was the problem. As an owner of a business you should reach out directly. It's your company and reputation that I am questioning. Wake up! Your sales manager disrespected my wife. We will never do business with you or any other business with the Shottenkirk name on it.

My family and I had a great experience with the two young men who initially helped us. Then the sales manager stepped in. He was aggressive, rude and abrupt with my wife. He is lucky I wasn't with her when his Hood County attitude popped off. I will be reporting this dealership to the better business bureau and will never return.

“Market Adjustment “
I visited this dealership on November 21. The salesman printed out the Dealer’s Sticker for the car I was interested in and said that was their price. I said to give me a “firm” price in writing and I would sign a contract and put down a deposit. The salesman said the car was in transit and was expected to be delivered by Dec. 10. He then said he would get it approved by the sales manager. After about 10 minutes, he came back with the “sales manager” who wanted to talk to me about a $5,000 additional fee that would be added to the price as a “market adjustment”. I got up and walked out. Their website is a “bait & switch”. A “market adjustment” is not mentioned in their ad.

Unethical practices
It’s unfortunate that inventory shortages sometimes force you to do business with dealerships like this one. I highly recommend trying to find your vehicle elsewhere, and let me tell you why; I’m a 100% combat disabled veteran who’s bought 12 vehicles (7 new) in the years since I returned home from Afghanistan and this is the first (and hopefully last) dealership that did a transaction I wasn’t pleased with (most dealerships go out of their way to try and thank me for my service with an actual good deal). I live an hour away and we were having torrential rainstorms so I called in advance to verify the sale price of the Santa Cruz I found on their own website. I was told after driving that mandatory packages of items I told them I didn’t want totaling $2,993 had to be purchased in order to buy the vehicle. I had previously worked in the car business prior to enlisting in the Army and am here to tell you that this is unethical at best. I am one of many displeased customers, so please do what I didn’t and read their reviews.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS DEALERSHIP
Stay away from this dealership. Purchased a used vehicle they changed the price from what was on there website. The salesman Mason said the 1 year
warranty comes complimentary with every car. It DOES NOT. The day I drove my 2018 Compass with 30,000 miles on it the radio and controls were messing up. I contacted my salesman and he said bring it in. I took to a local Jeep dealership and immediately they said I need a new radio. Shottenkirk had to have known it was bad. Problem is no one will return my calls now. I will keep my review updated.
