Excellent buying experience!
We decided on Hyundai based on features, comfort, value, reliability and warranty. I dealt with five dealerships in the area: two did not have the model/color we wanted, three played games with me around availability, price and options. Planet Hyundai was professional, respectful, patient, and accommodating of our desires and needs. Did most of the initial work virtually. Hugh shout out to Adam Beckman, General Sales Manager, who made the process pretty effortless and even went above and beyond to make sure we were happy with the deal and vehicle. He and his sales staff are the ones you want to be dealing with in an important purchase like this. This is our last new car and I ended up very pleased with the process of acquiring it, mainly BECAUSE of Adam and Planet Hyundai. I was a car salesman before finishing my doctorate and having a professional career and take it from me, these folks define the sane way to buy a car!

Very Poor Service on Simple Maintenance.
I brought my Hyundai IONIQ 5 in to Planet Hyundai to have the tires rotated at 10,000 miles. This is a complimentary service at every 5,000 miles during the first 3 years, or 36,000 miles. I was told they would need the vehicle all day, so I caught a ride the 12 miles back to my house.

An hour later, they called to say it was ready. I returned to pick it up and reviewed the paperwork before signing, which said that the tires were rotated "if needed". I told the Service Advisor that I brought this vehicle in specifically to have the tires rotated and wanted to know if they were rotated. He said that they were rotated "if wear indicated that they needed rotating".

I asked again and again if my tires were rotated. He answered again and again that they were rotated if wear indicated that they needed rotating. He said that the tires would have been evaluated and rotated on an "as needed" basis.

I said it had been 5,000 miles since they were rotated and that I rotate the tires on all my vehicles every 5,000 miles. I said I would wait or reschedule if needed but wanted my tires rotated. I got no where with this and left not knowing to this day if my tires were rotated. Before leaving, I even talked to the Service Manager who was in the office right in front of us and got only vague excuses.

Weird when it's a simple yes or no answer to the question, "Were my tires rotated"?

TLDR: Hidden markups, Gaslighting, Threats, and Lies.

Firstly, they tout that they don’t have “dealer handling fees”, which is technically true but they will increase your interest rate on the back end. You can say you don’t have upfront fees, but hidden markups make you shady and not transparent.

Secondly, we reserved a vehicle in transit, after it arrived we started talking final numbers. The numbers they were quoting weren’t adding up so I asked to speak to a manager. The manager continued to quote numbers that didn’t make sense and I told him that I didn’t feel comfortable moving forward and I would like my deposit refunded and his response was basically “too bad, your deposit is non-refundable, take what we are telling you or we are keeping your deposit”.

At this point, I attempt to contact Shawn by phone, leaving him a voicemail expressing my concerns. No response. I respond by emailing and texting to cancel my appointment for the next day. No response until the next day in the late morning. To which the only reply is if I am moving forward with the vehicle. A blatant move to only collect my non-refundable deposit and move onto the next sucker. At this point, not wanting to lose my deposit and seeing that Shawn, manager Jon, and Planet Hyundai having no interest in hearing my concerns and only wish to gaslight and collect non-refundable deposits, I tell them to reschedule my appointment for 3 weeks into the future, at the end of February. Which their only response was, if I was planning to finalize the purchase on the new appointment, not to address my concerns. And trying to tell me that he doesn’t know if they can hold the vehicle for that long, against the terms of my reservation agreement, which they so graciously reminded me of it’s non-refund-ability previously. They eventually relented and agreed to a new appointment in 3 weeks.

Over the next few days I continued to attempt to get correct numbers from them and also tell them I am considering outside financing, to which they tell me that by doing so I will forfeit some state tax incentives if I don’t go through HMF (Hyundai Motor Finance), which is just a blatant lie. After a long back and forth, they give me numbers that I know are technically wrong and HMF won’t fund, but appear acceptable and they also agreed that I would still qualify for the State Incentives with outside financing, it would just go through the state, not through them.

Three weeks pass and our appointment is coming up. I give the information they request for the meeting and everything is moving forward. I am LITERALLY driving to the dealership and 15 MINUTES before our appointment they send me text saying that I was right about the math being wrong 3 weeks ago and that the numbers he sent me were wrong.(Shocker, I know) So instead of actually looking into my concerns 3 weeks ago they IMMEDIATELY resorted to gaslighting and threats.

I went forward with purchasing the vehicle I wanted, not because I trusted any of them but because the vehicle was hard to find and they finally agreed to somewhat acceptable terms, which still included their scummy hidden markup in the interest rate.

I look forward to my opportunity to give feedback to Hyundai USA about them.

Great experience with Planet Hyundai service dept.
I would like to share my experience with Jarrett Starr at Planet Hyundai in Golden, CO. I had to stop by without an appt, because of an issue with my keyfob. Jarrett helped me with that and also installed the anti-theft software that was available for my car, a recall item. I thought I would have to make a separate appt for that so, I was very surprised to have that taken care of. Saving me a lot of time. He was so helpful and pleasant to deal with. These days, that kind of service is unheard of. I am very happy to recommend him/them.

I mentioned that my SUV seemed to pull a bit to the right - it was an alignment issue that was corrected.
My only complaint is: The waiting room specializes in reading material that is almost totally aimed at a MALE audience, I would be willing to bet that more women than men come in for car service. There was one OLD Good Housekeeping magazine and one fashion catalogue - more suited to a Rolls Royce dealership than Hyundai,.

I went to another Hyundai dealership originally because of the closer location. I walked out of there after about 20 minutes and told them I am coming over this counter if you don't give me my keys back immediately. They were pushy, rude and arrogant. I waited about a week and went to the Golden Hyundai. I have purchased two brand new vehicles from there and will NEVER go to another dealership! Service is second to none, always very professional and courteous!!!!

confident work will be done correctly
I have owned Hyundai cars since 2008. Almost always I get the vehicles serviced at Hyundai Planet.
A few times I have had to get service elsewhere....like when I drove to Alaska and had to get an oil change in Fairbanks. Once I had a coupon for Midas and took my Sante-fe in for an oil change. When I got home I found an oil leak from the drain hole. I tried to tighten the screw, but it still leaked. Took it to Planet for correction...the washer was left off...hence the leak. It is the little things that outside shops may not do correctly. Hence , I feel more confident that a repair will be done correctly at Hyundai. Also the reps (Scott and Dave) help to make for a good experience.
