Will take advantage if you’re in desperate need of help
When I arrived in the Colorado, I didn’t know about downshifting and blew out my front brakes. I took my van to Pellmans.
They charged me $2100 to fix my brakes and a few other minor repairs.
I contacted other mechanics both here in Colorado and back home in Maryland and found out that they definitely overcharged me. The same repairs at the other shops went for $500-$700 less than what Pellmans charged me.
I also talked to locals who cringed when they found out I took my vehicle to Pellmans.
“Yeah, they overcharge,” is what the majority of people I talked to said.
But the story doesn’t end there. A short while later, my right front brake locked up. The caliper was bad. Now Pellmans didn’t work on or replace the caliper which I found out to my dismay after I had the van towed to another mechanic who accepts the Technet warranty that Pellmans offers.
The other mechanic didn’t accept the warranty because Pellmans didn’t touch the calipers. Now I’m not a mechanic, but after a severe brake blowout, I would think that you would check and see if one of the most important parts of the braking system was working properly.
So in summary, Pellmans is not above taking advantage of travelers in desperate need of help and will severely overcharge you given the opportunity.
