I brought my car in with a P0171 code reading. NOT a P0045. Not knowing much at the time what this code meant, I allowed them to look my car over. I get a quote for $1700 telling me it's the intercooler and it has a hole. Excuse me? And they can get it done today like they just have my random intercooler for my car there in stock and ready to go at this small place? I said absolutely not and took my car home after paying $161 for that diagnosis. I buy a scanner and run it and the diagnostic says it's my MAF sensor. I replace it and what do you know. EVERYTHING IS BETTER ON THE LIVE READ AND MY CEL IS GONE. I don't know how they got so confident they'd be able to dupe me into a $1700 fix when $30 fixed my CEL. Either it's gross incompetence or sheer audacity but im a single mother with 2 kids. What on earth makes these people think that was okay?! I paid $161 to be lied to. I am NEVER returning to that place. I get i live in a rich neighborhood and people probably just toss their credit card and say "fix it" but that's unacceptable. My intercooler would not throw a too lean code. Ever. Don't believe me? Spend 10 hours looking over tons and tons of information from certified mechanics discussing the codes my intercooler WOULD throw like the P0025 mentioned above. Absolutely unreal.
