Missing major rust issues during safety inspection put my son’s life at risk
Just wanted to share my experience with the used car that I got for my son that was safety inspected in Newmarket Mitsubishi dealership in February 2025 and deemed safe to drive.
I purchased the car based on this evaluation, my son drove it occasionally till April 19, 2025 when the car frame just collapsed mid-drive. Fortunately he was not on highway at that time, or I might have lost my child due to the car malfunction. I had it towed to a mechanic and was told that the entire left side of the engine gross frame has completely rusted out and the car is completely irreparable. In the mechanic’s evaluation this corrosion could not have advanced so far within 8 weeks and the car should have never passed safety in February.
I contacted the Mitsubishi dealer and was told that their mechanic cleared it and there is nothing that they can do for us. I strongly believe that the safety inspection was not done properly and this rust problems should have been detected and the car should never have been sold to a customer in good faith. I am attaching the photo of the damage on the car.
